A refrigerator has an ice maker. The ice maker has: a longitudinal axis; and a rotatable, stretchable ice cube tray with an upper face defining a plane offset from the longitudinal axis with openings for ice cubes, a fixed lateral end, and a rotatable lateral end, the upper face being parallel to the longitudinal axis, the offset being at least a depth of an ice cube. Ice cubes are released when a torsional force exerted on the rotatable lateral end twists the stretchable tray.

REFRIGERATOR

A refrigerator including an ice maker that includes a pressurizing member, a first tray including a first main ice-making cell and a first auxiliary ice-making cell. The ice maker includes a second tray coupleable to the first tray to form a spherical ice chamber, the second tray includes a second main ice-making cell coupleable to the first main ice-making cell to form a spherical ice chamber and a second auxiliary ice-making cell formed to extend upward from the second main ice-making cell and having a portion that contacts the first auxiliary ice-making cell, where, as the second tray is moved to separate the second main ice-making cell of the second tray coupled to the first main ice-making cell of the first tray that form the spherical ice chamber, the pressurizing member applies pressure to the second auxiliary ice-making cell of the second tray.

In one embodiment, a refrigerator comprises a plurality of ice makers configured to generate ice, a valve part configured to adjust a supply of water to each of the plurality of ice makers, and a controller configured to control the valve part, and when receiving a request for a supply of water to an ice maker of higher priority while water is supplied to an ice maker of lower priority, the controller controls the valve part to cut off the supply of water to the ice maker of lower priority and supply water to the ice maker of higher priority.

REFRIGERATOR

Provided is a refrigerator. The refrigerator may include a first tray assembly defining a portion of an ice making cell and a second tray assembly defining another portion of the ice making cell. The refrigerator may further include a pusher provided with a first edge on which a surface configured to press one or more of the first and second tray assemblies is disposed to easily separate the ice from the tray assemblies, a bar extending from the first edge, and a second edge disposed at an end of the bar. At least one of the pusher or the second tray assembly may move so as to change a relative position between the pusher and the second tray assembly.

ICE-MAKING COMPARTMENT FOR AN APPLIANCE

An appliance ice-making compartment includes a housing which defines an inlet aperture and an outlet aperture. A first ice tray is disposed at a first height within the housing. A second ice tray is disposed at a second height within the housing where the first height is closer to a top of the housing compared to the second height. The second ice tray is closer to the inlet aperture compared to the first ice tray. An inlet duct is in fluid communication with the inlet aperture and configured to direct air toward the first ice tray and the second ice tray.

An ice cube tray includes a base and a lid for covering an open top of the base. The open top provides access to compartments for making individual ice cubes. The lid includes ridges on its bottom surface that define holding areas. When the lid covers the open top, such that the holding areas are facing the compartments, and the tray is turned upside down, ice cubes are released from the compartments and fall into the holding areas on the lid. When the base is moved away from the lid, the ice cubes are each held in a respective holding area for grasping by a user. Any ice cubes remaining on the lid remain held in the holding areas. The base can then be placed back over the lid and the tray can be turned right-side up, which returns the remaining ice cubes to their original compartments.

A refrigerator of the present disclosure includes a tray configured to form an ice making cell, a water supply valve configured to control the flow of water to the ice making cell, and a controller configured to control the water supply valve, in which the controller controls the water supply valve to turn off the water supply valve to stop water supply while performing water supply and turns on the water supply valve again for additional water supply after the water supply valve is turned off.

REFRIGERATOR AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME

A refrigerator includes an ice maker, which includes an ice making cell, a heater configured to supply heat to the ice making cell during an ice making process, and a controller configured to control the heater. A cooling power of the cooler when a temperature sensed by a temperature sensor is greater than or equal to a limit temperature during an ice making process is greater than a cooling power of the cooler when the temperature is less than the limit temperature. A heating amount of the heater when the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor is greater than or equal to the limit temperature during the ice making process is greater than a heating amount of the heater when the temperature is less than the limit temperature.
