Method of and apparatus for preparing samples for imaging or diffraction experiments under cryogenic conditions

The invention relates to a method of and apparatus for preparing a sample for imaging or diffraction experiments under cryogenic conditions, comprising the steps of applying a sample to sample carrier, such as a film on a support, in particular a grid comprising such a film on a support, or removing residual medium, typically liquid, from an incubated sample on a film on a support, and vitrifying the sample. The sample is vitrified by directing a jet of liquid coolant to the center of the film and onto the sample.

Preparation of a sample for high pressure freezing

A device for preparing a microscopic sample for a high-pressure freezing process in which the sample is provided using an arrangement having a middle plate of a high-pressure freezing cartridge and an incubation chamber, the middle plate being attached to and detachable from the incubation chamber by effecting a relative movement between the middle plate and the incubation chamber, and the sample being provided on an enclosing element which is fitted into an opening of the middle plate, wherein the device includes an engagement structure adapted to engage with the middle plate and to restrict a movement of the middle plate while the incubation chamber is moved, such as to effect the relative movement between the middle plate and the incubation chamber and to thereby detach the middle plate from the incubation chamber.

A blast cell system is provided with simple and scalable designs that prevent short cycling of air flow through any pallets in blast cells. The blast cell includes a plurality of suction channels that provide independent fluid pathways for directing the air drawn from different rows in the blast cell into the fan.

Device for metering carbon dioxide snow

The invention relates to a device for metering carbon dioxide snow, comprising a storage container and a discharge opening arranged in the base of the storage container. A horizontally and vertically movable base, by means of which the discharge opening can be opened and closed, is arranged in the region of the discharge opening. A horizontally movable cutting knife is vertically spaced from the base and can be moved into the interior of the storage container. Once the storage container is filled with carbon dioxide snow a metered amount of carbon dioxide snow present between the cutting knife and the base is cut off by the cutting knife and compacted by vertical movements of the base and is then discharged by the base moving into the open position.

A method for controlling a refrigerator according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: if an ultra-low temperature compartment mode is turned on, performing control such that one of low voltage, middle voltage, high voltage, and reverse voltage is applied to the thermoelectric module according to the operation mode of the refrigerator; and if the temperature of the ultra-low temperature compartment is determined to be in a satisfactory temperature range, applying low voltage to the thermoelectric module by the control unit.

Modulator for an ice maker

An icemaker appliance includes a cabinet. A refrigeration system includes a compressor, a condenser, an expansion device, and an evaporator. The refrigeration system is charged with a refrigerant. The refrigeration system further includes a modulator having a reservoir and a supply conduit. The reservoir of the modulator is positioned on an outlet conduit of the evaporator. A first end portion of the supply conduit is coupled to an inlet conduit of the evaporator, and a second end portion of the supply conduit is coupled to the reservoir of the modulator. The refrigerant is flowable into and out of the reservoir of the modulator through the supply conduit of the modulator. An ice maker is positioned within the cabinet. The evaporator of the refrigeration system is coupled to the icemaker such that the refrigeration system is operable to chill the icemaker.

COLD STORAGE SYSTEM

Systems and apparatus for providing long-term cold storage of solid materials such as dry ice are disclosed. The solid materials are stored in a tank configured to maintain the materials in their solid state. The tank is designed with a port sufficiently large to facilitate ingress and egress of the solid materials. A cryogenic liquid is used within the tank to substantially prevent the solid materials from sticking to each other, and to maintain the solid materials at a low temperature.

QUICK FREEZE PALLET RACKS WITH VARIABLE LOUVERED DOORS

Pallet racking systems are designed to quickly freeze items using thermal transfer by moving air through palletized products. Air is pulled through the palletized product to a negative air plenum behind the pallet rack. Back panels of the pallet racks provide variable-height airflow by use of louvers which are individually pressed open by the palletized product to accommodate differing product heights. The panels allow more efficient system operation with any number of rack positions filled.
