Configurable golf putter head assembly
11278770 · 2022-03-22 ·

A golf putter head assembly includes a putter head and a two-part hosel detachably mounted to the putter head by a single removable fastener. The two-part hosel includes a lower intermediate connector extending upwardly from the putter head, and an upper shaft connector extending upwardly from the intermediate connector. The fastener extends through a crown-to-sole through-bore formed in the putter head, through a longitudinal through-bore formed in the intermediate connector, and into a blind bore formed in a lower member of the shaft connector. An upper member of the shaft connector is mountable to a putter shaft. The upper member is angled relative to the lower member to define a shaft-head lie angle, and is offset from the lower member to define a shaft-head offset distance. The intermediate connector has a selected length that establishes a shaft-head balance characteristic. A kit and a method are also disclosed.

A flexible putter shaft may be interchanged with a stiff putter shaft even though the two shafts have markedly different properties including different diameters, different degrees of elasticity, and so on. An external adapter for a flexible putter shaft and an internal adapter for a stiff shaft allow either one to be fastened through a customized hole on the hosel of a putter head using a locking fastener and tool.

Golf club head

Disclosed herein is a golf club head that comprises a body. The body comprises a sole portion, a crown portion, a skirt portion, and a face portion, positioned at a forward region of the golf club head, opposite a rearward region of the golf club head, and extending from a toe region to a heel region of the golf club head. At least a portion of the body is made of a titanium alloy. The golf club head also comprises a large weight, coupled to the sole portion of the body and made of a steel alloy. A mass of the large weight is at least 40% of a mass of the portion of the body made of the titanium alloy. A total mass of the large weight and the portion of the body made of the titanium alloy is at least 210 grams.

GOLF CLUB HEADS AND METHODS TO MANUFACTURE GOLF CLUB HEADS

Examples of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a body portion of a golf club head may include a cavity having an opening and an interior structure defined by a wall portion and a base portion. A hosel portion may include an insert portion and a neck portion extending therefrom. The hosel portion may be attached to the body portion by an interference fit between the neck portion and the opening of the cavity. The insert portion may be received inside the cavity and may be spaced apart from the interior structure of the cavity. A space between the insert portion and the interior structure of the cavity may be partially or entirely filled with an adhesive to hold the hosel portion in place. Other examples may be described and claimed.

In a golf club, an apparatus which provides for a shaft to be adjustably secured to a head comprises a skewed axis shaft coupling and a shaft having an intermediate shaft section which joins a nominal shaft section to an offset shaft section such that they are offset one from the other. A shaft indexing mechanism provides for the nominal shaft section to have a plurality of indexed rotational positions in a socket of the skewed axis shaft coupling, thereby providing for the head to have, with respect to the offset shaft section, a plurality of possible sets of spatial and mass distribution properties. Furthermore, the skewed axis shaft coupling provides for the head to have, with respect to the nominal shaft section, a plurality of sets of angular properties.
