ADJUSTABLE INTERCHANGEABLE COMPONENT GOLF CLUB HEAD
20210236886 · 2021-08-05 ·

An adjustable interchangeable golf club with a faceplate-based platform to receive components for enhancing and controlling various aspects that control the golf ball flight and spin characteristics. Disclosed are components for adjusting loft and bounce angle, and interchangeable faceplate and rear flange styles. Novel milled surface roughness for enhanced spin control is disclosed along with new milling methods for achieving optimal surface roughness. Lightweight hosel and consequent redistribution of mass in club head greatly increases the inertia of the golf club. Centrally located hosel position aids in club head stability on off-center hits. This results in a golf club that hits the ball higher, straighter, longer, and with increased ball spin characteristics.

Golf shaft adapters of two different types, a skewed shim shaft adapter and an elemental shaft adapter, are interchangeable in their connection to a head. These interchangeable shaft adapters are particularly useful in retrofitting the elemental shaft adapter to a head which is manufactured to be fitted with the skewed shim shaft adapter. An assemblage, comprising the head, the skewed shim shaft adapter, and the elemental shaft adapter, provides a technician a choice between a skewed shim shaft adapter and head assembly comprising the head and the skewed shim shaft adapter, or an elemental shaft adapter and head assembly comprising the head and the elemental shaft adapter. This assemblage allows the technician to choose the shaft adapter which is more beneficial to his customer.

GOLF CLUB HEAD

A golf club head includes a body defining an interior cavity. The body includes a sole positioned at a bottom portion of the golf club head, a crown positioned at a top portion, and a skirt positioned around a periphery between the sole and crown. The body has a forward portion and a rearward portion. The club head includes a face positioned at the forward portion of the body. In some embodiments, the crown includes a lattice-like structure having thin regions surrounded by a web of relatively thicker regions. In some embodiments, the club head includes one or more stiffening tubes attached between the sole and the crown to improve the acoustic performance of the golf club head.

GOLF CLUB HEADS WITH GOLF COUPLING MECHANISMS

Embodiments of golf coupling mechanisms for joining golf club heads and shafts are described herein. The golf coupling mechanism allows for adjustment of a club head loft angle, a club head lie angle, and a golf club shaft length while utilizing one club head and one shaft. In a fully extended configuration, the golf coupling mechanism includes a shaft sleeve, a removable spacer, and a removable extender, wherein a fastening assembly secures the golf coupling mechanism to the golf club head. In a contracted configuration, the golf coupling mechanism includes the shaft sleeve. The golf coupling mechanism further includes a shaft cap to soften the interaction between the shaft and the golf coupling mechanism. The golf coupling mechanism further comprises one or more arcuate coupler sets to frictionally lock the shaft relative to the golf club head.

A golf shaft assembly is a stand-alone component for subsequent use with a golf club-head. The assembly includes a shaft with an adapter that is affixed to the bottom end of the shaft for engaging with the club-head. An adapter-spline is formed near the top end of the adapter that meshes with a club-head spline on the hosel of a club-head to hold the club-head in a base position relative to the golf shaft. In this base position the club-head has a predetermined loft angle and a predetermined face angle that are presented preparatory to a golf swing by a golfer. Optionally, the assembly can include at least one annular shaped collar that can be positioned between the adapter-spline and the club-head spline for introducing loft and/or club-face adjustments to optimize the user's golf swing.
