An apparatus is disclosed having a face which includes a striking surface. The striking surface has a combination of properties configured to enhance performance characteristics, such as a launch angle, carry distance, and spin rate of an associated ball. The combination of properties of the striking surface at least includes an adequate hardness, smoothness, and durability. A method of enhancing surface strike performance is also disclosed. The method includes providing an associated item of sports equipment with a face including a ball striking surface having a combination of properties such as an adequate hardness, smoothness, and durability.

FACEPLATE OF A GOLF CLUB HEAD

A golf club may include a head having a body and a faceplate coupled to the body. The faceplate may have a maximum thickness at a central location and a cross-section intersecting the central location. The cross-section may have continuously variable wall thickness across the faceplate. The faceplate may have a closed non-convex contour curve defined by constant faceplate wall thickness that encloses the central location.

The present invention is direct to a set of golf clubs comprising long irons, mid-irons and short irons. The invention contemplates the use of titanium or steel for the main body portion and a tungsten weight member coupled to the toe and a tungsten heel weight member coupled in a hosel cavity.

Putter-type golf club head with sound chamber

A putter-type golf club head with a sound chamber is disclosed herein. The club head comprises a body and a two-piece face insert disposed over the sound chamber. The sound chamber comprises a central sound sub-chamber and an outer sound sub-chamber, while the face insert comprises a first, metallic piece that includes a central recess, which is filled with a second, polymeric piece. The metallic piece is welded to the body, and the polymeric piece is adhered to the metallic piece. The body also includes at least one through-bore extending from the sound chamber through a back wall of the body. The body, the sound chamber, the face insert, and the through-bore amplify the sound generated by the putter-type golf club head striking a golf ball.

GOLF CLUBS AND METHODS TO MANUFACTURE GOLF CLUBS

Embodiments of golf clubs and methods to manufacture golf clubs are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club may include a golf club head having an interior cavity and a shaft attached to the golf club head. At least a portion of the shaft may be filled with an elastic polymer material, and the interior cavity may be at least partially filled with an elastic polymer material. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

A golf putting apparatus is presented. The apparatus includes a putter with a shaft and a club head, wherein the club head has a center section carved out to form an opening. The bottom of the opening may be defined by a connector. When used with the opening uncovered, this putter provides the golfer with immediate feedback on his/her swing, such as whether the ball would have contacted the sweet spot of the club had the opening been closed, how hard the ball was hit, and which part of the ball was hit. A club face may be attached across the opening to “close” the opening so the putter may be used in a game.

The back includes a back end thinner than the thickest portion of each of the crown thick part and the sole thick part. The crown thick part and the sole thick part are separated by the back including the back end. The crown thick part and the sole thick part lie over and cover at least part of each other to form an overlap part extending in a toe-heel direction in a view in a crown-sole direction.

A golf club head includes a face portion including a hitting face for striking a ball, a sweet spot on the hitting face, a toe, a back face opposite the hitting face, and a first thin-walled region formed by being recessed the back face. In a front view of the face portion viewed from a direction orthogonal to the hitting face, the first thin-walled region is provided in a toe-upper region that is a region above and on a toe side with respect to the sweet spot, the first thin-walled region is provided outside a region having a radius of 5 mm centered on the sweet spot, and an area of the first thin-walled region is in a range from 15% to 70% of an area of the toe-upper region.
