Golf club head
A golf club head has a hollow structure composed of a head main body including a face portion provided with an opening and a face member fitted in the opening and welded to the head main body. The welded part between the face member and the head main body includes a crown-side welded part positioned substantially at the upper edge or alternatively spaced apart from the upper edge toward the lower edge by a certain distance, and a sole-side welded part spaced apart from the lower edge toward the upper edge by a certain distance which is more than zero and more than the distance. The face portion is provided between the sole-side welded part and the lower edge with a sole-side thin area whose thickness is less than a thickness of the face member.
Golf club head
A golf club head is described having a club head portion, a shaft portion connected to the club head portion, and a grip portion connected to the shaft portion. The club head portion has a heel portion, a sole portion, a toe portion, a crown portion, a hosel portion, and a striking face. The striking face has a center face roll contour, a toe side roll contour, a heel side roll contour, a center face bulge contour, a crown side bulge contour, and a sole side bulge contour. The toe side roll contour is more lofted than the center face roll contour. The heel side roll contour is less lofted than the center face roll contour. The crown side bulge contour is more open than the center face bulge contour, and the sole side bulge contour is more closed than the center face bulge contour.
GOLF CLUB WITH A STRIKING FACE HAVING IMPROVED CHARACTERISTIC TIME VALUES
A ball striking face for a golf driver, fairway wood and hybrid type golf club head having a central impact area with a average thickness and additional multiple distinct areas outside the central impact area with other average face thicknesses for the improved transfer of energy to a golf ball for additional distance without any additional effort by the golfer. The striking face provides a transfer of energy at the central impact area which does not exceed CT values of 257 u sec. and an improved transfer of energy in one or more areas outside the central impact area that provides CT values greater than 257 u sec. but not greater than 275 u sec. when tested with the United States Golf Association's CT test protocol.
Iron-type golf club head or other ball striking device
A ball striking device, such as an iron-type golf club head, includes a face having a ball striking surface and a rear surface, and a body connected to the face. The body has a sole member and a rear cavity defined at least partially by the sole member and the rear surface of the face. The body has an elongated, recessed channel extending within the cavity along a juncture line between the rear surface of the face and the sole member. Additionally, the head is formed in part by a face member having a first leg forming at least a major portion of the face and a second leg extending rearwardly from a bottom end of the first leg and forming at least a portion of the sole member. The head may further be formed by a body member connected to the face member.
Golf club heads with optimized characteristics and related methods
Embodiments of golf club heads comprising a head interior and a hosel structure, the head interior bounded by a head front portion, a head rear portion, a head heel portion, a head toe portion, a head top portion, and a head sole portion, the golf club heads further comprising various optimized characteristics, are presented herein. Other examples and related methods are also disclosed herein.
CONTRAST-ENHANCED GOLF CLUB HEADS
Golf club heads include white diffusing top surfaces to aid in club head alignment. Wood type club heads also include a dark diffusing club face so that a crown/face border is emphasized. Scorelines in wood type clubs can be provided with an intermediate contrast surface, and can be displaced from club face center to accommodate player perception when confronted with a white diffusing crown. Putter heads can include dark diffusing alignment lines, and iron-type club heads can include white diffusing surfaces at a sole portion of a club face, at a top line, or a top portion of a club face.
Golf club heads with variable face thickness
A club head with a variable face thickness includes a body having a toe, heel, sole, and top portion. The loft angle LA and the club head mass mh satisfy mh=2.1 g/degree*LA+a, where 190 g<a<210 g, and the club head has a blade length less than 80 mm. A striking face of the club head has a face center, and defines a face plane. A virtual center plane extends vertically through the face center perpendicularly to the face plane. A center of gravity of the club head is located not more than 2.0 mm from the virtual center plane, and a moment of inertia about a vertical axis extending through the center of gravity satisfies: Izz>mh*9.3 cm.sup.2. In one aspect, a face insert including the striking face has a mass mf such that mf/mh is less than or equal to 0.22.
SUPPORTED IRON SET
The present invention is directed to a set of golf clubs comprising long irons, mid irons and short irons. The irons have a progressive horizontal CG location. Preferably, the long and mid irons have a face stabilizing bar and back panel and the CG is located between about 1 mm and 3 mm towards the hosel and the CG in the short irons is located between about 3 mm and 4 mm toward the hosel. Further the long and mid irons irons can have a plurality of apertures in the face stabilizing bar and/or the back wall.
GOLF CLUB HEAD
A golf club head includes a face portion that forms a striking face, a crown portion, a sole portion, and a hosel portion. The striking face has a face center. The sole portion includes a toe protruding portion that is a protruding portion provided on a toe side with respect to the face center and is hollow. The toe protruding portion is not present on a heel side with respect to the face center. The toe protruding portion is formed so as to be continuous with the face portion. The height of the toe protruding portion at its apex may be greater than or equal to 1.5 mm and less than or equal to 8 mm. The golf club head is excellent in rebound performance. In the golf club head, the rebound performance can be improved by deformation of the toe protruding portion at impact.
