An air separation device according to the present invention is an air separation device in which air is distilled at a low temperature, and includes a high-pressure column which separates high-pressure raw material air into high-pressure nitrogen gas and high-pressure oxygen-enriched liquefied air; a low-pressure column which separates the high-pressure oxygen-enriched liquefied air into low-pressure nitrogen gas, low-pressure liquefied oxygen, and argon-enriched liquefied oxygen; an argon column which separates the argon-enriched liquefied oxygen having a pressure higher than the pressure into argon gas and medium-pressure liquefied oxygen; a first indirect heat-exchanger which heat-exchanges between the argon gas and the low-pressure liquefied oxygen; a second indirect heat-exchanger which heat-exchanges between the high-pressure nitrogen gas and the medium-pressure liquefied oxygen; a first gas-liquid separation chamber which separates the low-pressure oxygen gas which has been vaporized by the first indirect heat-exchanger and the low-pressure liquefied oxygen which has not been vaporized; a second gas-liquid separation chamber which separates the medium-pressure oxygen gas which has been vaporized by the second indirect heat-exchanger and the medium-pressure liquefied oxygen which has not been vaporized; a first passage which communicates the gas phase of the low-pressure column and the gas phase of the second gas-liquid separation chamber; a second passage which communicates the liquid phase of the low-pressure column and the second gas-liquid separation chamber; a first opening/closing mechanism located on the first passage; and a second opening/closing mechanism located on the second passage.
FLUID RECOVERY PROCESS AND APPARATUS
A process for recovering at least one fluid (e.g. argon gas and/or nitrogen gas, etc.) from a feed gas (e.g. air) can include utilization of a compression system, primary heat exchanger unit, plant processing units to separate and recover at least one desired fluid (e.g. nitrogen gas, argon gas, etc.). In some embodiments, the process can be configured so that fluid flows output from a low pressure column and/or high pressure column of the plant can provide a condensation duty or refrigeration duty that is utilized to process certain fluid flows for recovery of argon and/or nitrogen gases. Some embodiments can be configured to provide an improved recovery of argon and/or nitrogen as well as an improvement in operational efficiency by reducing an amount of power (e.g. electrical power) needed to recover the nitrogen and/or argon.
CHILLED WORKING FLUID GENERATION AND SEPARATION FOR AN AIRCRAFT
A system for an aircraft includes an engine bleed source of a gas turbine engine. The system also includes a means for chilling an engine bleed air flow from the engine bleed source to produce a chilled working fluid. The system further includes a means for providing the chilled working fluid for an aircraft use.
Propulsion system cooling control
A propulsion system includes an electric fan propulsion motor with a plurality of propulsion motor windings. The propulsion system also includes a means for controlling a flow rate of a working fluid through a cryogenic working fluid flow control assembly to the propulsion motor windings. The propulsion system further includes a controller operable to control supplying a pre-cooling flow of the working fluid from a cryogenic liquid reservoir through the cryogenic working fluid flow control assembly to the propulsion motor windings.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING HIGH-PURITY NITROGEN AND LOW-PURITY OXYGEN
A method and apparatus for producing high-purity nitrogen and low-purity oxygen using three-column rectification are provided, in which: nitrogen and oxygen undergo rectification in different columns, with high-purity nitrogen and low-purity oxygen being separated out of air simultaneously, thereby overcoming the shortcomings of conventional low-purity oxygen production equipment, and also reducing equipment investment, lowering energy consumption, increasing product added value, and realizing a circular economy effect.
Method for Operating a Liquid Air Energy Storage
A method for operating the liquid air energy storage (LAES) includes production of the storable liquid air through consumption of a low-demand power and recovery the liquid air for co-production of an on-demand power and a high-grade saleable cold thermal energy which may be used, say, for liquefaction of the delivered natural gas; in so doing zero carbon footprint is provided both for fueled augmentation of the LAES power output and for LNG co-production at the LAES facility.
