Configurations and methods for small scale LNG production
An LNG plant comprises a cold box and a refrigeration unit fluidly coupled with a plurality of heat exchanger passes in the cold box. The refrigeration unit is configured to provide a first refrigerant stream to a first heat exchanger pass of the plurality of heat exchanger passes at a first pressure, a second refrigerant stream to a second heat exchanger pass at a second pressure, and a third refrigerant stream to a third heat exchanger pass at a third pressure. The second refrigerant stream comprises a first portion of the first refrigerant stream, and the third refrigerant stream comprises a second portion of the first refrigerant stream. The second pressure and the third pressure are both below the first pressure. The cold box is configured to produce LNG from a natural gas feed stream to the cold box using a refrigeration content from the refrigeration unit.
System and method for separating natural gas liquid and nitrogen from natural gas streams
A system and method for removing nitrogen and producing a high pressure methane product stream and an NGL product stream from natural gas feed streams where at least 90%, and preferably at least 95%, of the ethane in the feed stream is recovered in the NGL product stream. The system and method of the invention are particularly suitable for use with feed streams in excess of 5 MMSCFD and up to 300 MMSCFD and containing around 5% to 80% nitrogen. The system and method preferably combine use of strategic heat exchange between various process streams with a high pressure rectifier tower and the ability to divert all or a portion of a nitrogen rejection unit feed stream to optionally bypass a nitrogen fractionation column to reduce capital costs and operating expenses.
PROCESS INTEGRATION FOR NATURAL GAS LIQUID RECOVERY
This specification relates to operating industrial facilities, for example, crude oil refining facilities or other industrial facilities that include operating plants that process natural gas or recover natural gas liquids.
INTEGRATED PROCESS FOR PURIFYING AND LIQUEFYING NATURAL GAS
A process for liquefying and simultaneously purifying natural gas from acidic compounds is provided. The process involves pre-cooling a natural gas flow in a cryogenic exchanger, pre-treating the pre-cooled natural gas flow inside a pre-treatment unit and obtaining a purified flow, heat recovering and obtaining a higher temperature flow, compressing the higher temperature flow and obtaining a first compressed recirculation flow, cooling the first compressed recirculation flow and obtaining a compressed and cooled flow, and separating from the compressed and cooled flow a recirculation flow portion of natural gas. One or more cooling steps are carried out by a flow of nitrogen circulating inside a closed nitrogen refrigeration cycle.
LNG Production with Nitrogen Removal
A method and system for liquefying a natural gas feed stream and removing nitrogen therefrom.
SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS FOR SEPARATING NITROGEN FROM A NATURAL GAS STREAM CONTAINING LESS THAN 25% NITROGEN
A method for separating nitrogen from an inlet gas having less than 25 mole % nitrogen includes supplying the inlet gas having less than 25 mole % nitrogen to a nitrogen separation system configured with cryogenic refrigeration.
System and method for natural gas liquid production with flexible ethane recovery or rejection
A system and method for producing an NGL product stream in either an ethane retention or rejection mode. Rejection modes include (a) two heat exchange stages between a feed stream and first separator bottoms stream and cooling a side stream withdrawn from a fractionation tower through heat exchange with both the fractionation tower and second separator overhead streams; or (b) warming the first separator bottoms stream and fractionation overhead stream through heat exchange with the side stream prior to heat exchange with the feed stream, to achieve 4-15% ethane recovery and 97%+ propane recovery. In ethane retention mode, a portion of the feed stream and portions of a first separator overhead and bottoms streams are separately cooled through heat exchange with other process streams, including the entireties of a recycled residue gas and fractionation column overhead streams, resulting in around 99% ethane and around 100% propane recovery.
