A moderate pressure air separation unit and air separation cycle is disclosed that provides for up to about 96% recovery of argon, an overall nitrogen recovery of 98 percent or greater and limited gaseous oxygen production. The air separation is configured to produce a first high purity oxygen enriched stream and a second lower purity oxygen enriched stream from the lower pressure column, one of which is used as the refrigerant to condense the argon in the argon condenser, with the resulting vaporized oxygen stream used to regenerate the temperature swing adsorption pre-purifier unit. All or a portion of the first high purity oxygen enriched stream is vaporized in the main heat exchanger to produce the gaseous oxygen products.

CRYOGENIC PROCESS FOR RECOVERING VALUABLE COMPONENTS FROM A HYDROGEN-RICH FEED GAS
The invention relates to a cryogenic process for recovering valuable components, in particular hydrogen, from a hydrogen-rich feed gas, in particular a hydrogen-rich natural gas, comprising the following steps: in a first separation column (T1), hydrocarbons having two or more carbon atoms are separated off, in a second separation column (T2), methane is separated off, and in a third separation column (T3) nitrogen is separated off, the hydrogen-rich feed gas, after optional precleaning R, being fed to the separation columns T1 to T3 according to steps a) to c) and being separated in the separation columns into a liquid fraction, the bottom product, and a gas fraction, the overhead product. In the cryogenic process according to the invention, the cold supply preferably takes place at least partially through one or more refrigeration cycles.

The apparatus can include an enclosure; a first distillation column configured to operate at a first pressure; a second distillation column configured to operate at a second pressure that is lower than the first pressure, the second distillation column being placed above the first distillation column and forming therewith a double column; a subcooling heat exchanger configured to cool at least one liquid from the first distillation column upstream of the second distillation column and configured to warm a gaseous nitrogen stream from the second distillation column; and an argon column configured to separate an argon enriched stream from the second distillation column and configured to produce an argon rich stream. In certain embodiments, the first distillation column, the second distillation column, the argon column and the subcooling heat exchanger are disposed within the enclosure, and/or the subcooling heat exchanger is disposed directly underneath the first distillation column or the argon column.
CRYOGENIC AIR SEPARATION UNIT WITH FLEXIBLE LIQUID PRODUCT MAKE
A cryogenic air separation unit that provides flexibility in the production of liquid products is disclosed. The present cryogenic air separation unit and associated operating methods involves the use of a dual nozzle arrangement for the main heat exchanger that allows a turbine air stream draw from the main heat exchanger at different temperatures to provide refrigeration to the cryogenic air separation unit which, in turn, enables different production modes for the various liquid products.
Methods and systems for integration of industrial site efficiency losses to produce LNG and/or LIN
A method includes receiving input corresponding to a proposed configuration of a liquefaction facility and identifying a plurality of components utilized to produce LNG and/or LIN at the facility. The method includes determining an alternative configuration that is different from the proposed configuration. Determining the alternative configuration may include identifying resources accessible to a proposed location for the liquefaction facility and whether at least one of the resources accessible to the proposed location corresponds to a resource generated by a component identified by the proposed configuration, and determining whether to omit at least one component of the plurality of components identified by the proposed configuration. The method includes omitting the at least one component from the alternative configuration, and generating a report based on the proposed configuration and the alternative configuration. The report includes information indicating a difference between the proposed configuration and the alternative configuration.
AIR SEPARATION UNIT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF NITROGEN AND ARGON USING A DISTILLATION COLUMN SYSTEM WITH AN INTERMEDIATE PRESSURE KETTLE COLUMN
An air separation unit and associated method for separating air by cryogenic distillation using a distillation column system including a higher pressure column, a lower pressure column, an intermediate pressure kettle column, and an argon column arrangement is provided. The disclosed air separation unit and method is particularly suited for production of an argon product as well as several nitrogen products wherein a portion of the nitrogen overhead intermediate pressure kettle column is taken as an intermediate or elevated pressure nitrogen product. The present air separation unit and associated method employs a once-through kettle column reboiler, a once-through kettle column condenser while the argon condenser condenses an argon-rich vapor stream against a pumped oxygen stream from the bottom of the lower pressure column.
