LIQUIFIED NATURAL GAS PROCESSING COLD BOX WITH INTERNAL REFRIGERANT STORAGE
A system for processing liquified natural gas can include: a natural gas feed; a cold box; one or more natural gas cooling components; and a storage tank configured to store a refrigerant, wherein the one or more natural gas cooling components and the storage tank are located within the cold box. The cold box can be a methane cold box and the refrigerant can be propane, ethane, or ethylene. The system can also include a propane refrigerant cycle and/or an ethylene refrigerant cycle. Refrigerant stored in the methane cold box can be used to replenish refrigerant lost in the propane/ethylene cycles. The cold box can be an ethylene cold box of the ethylene refrigerant cycle. Propane can be stored in the ethylene cold box. A second storage tank can be located within a methane cold box and store ethane or ethylene.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO PRODUCE LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS
A small to mid-scale liquefied natural gas production system and method is provided. The disclosed liquefied natural gas production system employs a nitrogen-based refrigerant, at least one heat exchanger, three turbine/expanders and two or more refrigerant compression stages. The expansion ratio of one turbine/expander is appreciably lower than the expansion ratio of the other turbine/expanders such that the temperature of the exhaust stream from the turbine/expander with the lower expansion ratio is above the critical point temperature of the compressed natural gas containing feed stream but colder than −15° C.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO PRODUCE LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS USING TWO DISTINCT REFRIGERATION CYCLES WITH AN INTEGRAL GEAR MACHINE
A system and method for liquefaction of natural gas using two distinct refrigeration circuits having compositionally different working fluids and operating at different temperature levels is provided. The turbomachinery associated with the liquefaction system are driven by a single three-pinion, three-turbine integral gear machine with customized pairing arrangements. The system and method of natural gas liquefaction further includes the conditioning of a lower pressure natural gas feed stream to produce a purified, compressed natural gas stream at a pressure equal to or above the critical pressure of natural gas and substantially free of heavy hydrocarbons to be liquefied.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO PRODUCE LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS USING A THREE PINION INTEGRAL GEAR MACHINE
A system and method for liquefaction of natural gas using two distinct refrigeration circuits having compositionally different working fluids and operating at different temperature levels is provided. The turbomachinery associated with the liquefaction system are driven by a single three-pinion or four-pinion integral gear machine with customized pairing arrangements. The system and method of natural gas liquefaction further includes the conditioning of a lower pressure natural gas containing feed stream to produce a purified, compressed natural gas stream at a pressure equal to or above the critical pressure of natural gas and substantially free of heavy hydrocarbons to be liquefied.
Process integration for natural gas liquid recovery
This specification relates to operating industrial facilities, for example, crude oil refining facilities or other industrial facilities that include operating plants that process natural gas or recover natural gas liquids.
DYNAMIC LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM IN PROPANE HEAT EXCHANGERS
Systems and processes for detecting leaks into a refrigeration system having a heat exchanger where the process side is configured to operate at a higher pressure than the refrigerant side. The system includes a refrigerant circulation system including a refrigerant feed pipe fluidly connected to and configured to provide a refrigerant to an inlet of the refrigerant side of the heat exchanger, as well as a refrigerant effluent pipe fluidly connected to and configured to receive a refrigerant from an outlet of the refrigerant side of the heat exchanger. One or more sensors are provided, the sensors being configured to measure a property of the refrigerant, such as temperature, pressure, or flow rate, for example. Additionally, the system for detecting leaks includes a digital control system configured to provide an alert when a signal from at least one of the one or more sensors is indicative of a leak from the process side of the heat exchanger to the refrigerant side of the heat exchanger.
Apparatus and System for Swing Adsorption Processes
Provided are apparatus and systems for performing a swing adsorption process. This swing adsorption process may involve performing a startup mode process prior to beginning a normal operation mode process to remove contaminants from a gaseous feed stream. The startup mode process may be utilized for swing adsorption processes, such as TSA and/or PSA, which are utilized to remove one or more contaminants from a gaseous feed stream.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LNG PRODUCTION WITH PROPANE AND ETHANE RECOVERY
A LNG liquefaction plant includes a propane recovery unit including an inlet for a feed gas, a first outlet for a LPG, and a second outlet for an ethane-rich feed gas, an ethane recovery unit including an inlet coupled to the second outlet for the ethane-rich feed gas, a first outlet for an ethane liquid, and a second outlet for a methane-rich feed gas, and a LNG liquefaction unit including an inlet coupled to the second outlet for the methane-rich feed gas, a refrigerant to cool the methane-rich feed gas, and an outlet for a LNG. The LNG plant may also include a stripper, an absorber, and a separator configured to separate the feed gas into a stripper liquid and an absorber vapor. The stripper liquid can be converted to an overhead stream used as a reflux stream to the absorber.
Heavy hydrocarbon removal system for lean natural gas liquefaction
A system and method for integrated heavy hydrocarbon removal in a liquefaction system having a lean natural gas source. An economizer located between a main cryogenic heat exchanger and a reflux drum is provided to cool an overhead vapor stream against a partially condensed stream. In addition, pressure of the natural gas feed stream is maintained into a scrub column. A pressure drop is provided by a valve located between the economizer and the reflux drum on a partially condensed stream withdrawn from the cold end of the warm section of the main cryogenic heat exchanger.
