Golf club heads

A cast cup can include a forward portion of a golf club head, including a hosel, forward portions of a crown, sole, heel, and toe, and a face portion or an opening to receive a face insert. A rear ring can be formed separately from the cast cup and coupled to heel and toe portions of the cast cup to form a rigid club head body, such that the club head body defines a hollow interior region, a crown opening, a sole opening, and/or face opening. The cast cup and rear ring can be made of different materials, including various metals, composites, and polymers. Composite crown, sole, and/or face inserts can be coupled to the crown, sole, and/or face openings. Weights can be coupled to the cast cup and to the rear ring. The face can have a complex variable thickness geometry.

Golf club head

A golf club head includes a face plate including a plate front surface constituting a club face, a plate rear surface opposite the plate front surface and having an outer peripheral portion, and a plate side surface, and a head main body being provided with an opening to receive the face plate and a receiving surface formed around a periphery of the opening to support the outer peripheral portion of the plate rear surface. The receiving surface is formed with a partially interrupted discontinuity so that the outer peripheral portion has a non-supported region that is not directly supported by the head main body. A portion of the plate side surface corresponding to the non-supported region is not directly supported by the head main body. The face plate is fixed to the head main body by a plastic deformation portion of the head main body.

GOLF CLUB HEAD

A golf club head is described having a body defining an interior cavity and comprising a heel portion, a toe portion, and a sole portion positioned at a bottom portion of the golf club head, and a crown positioned at a top portion. The body has a forward portion and a rearward portion. A non-metallic striking surface is positioned at the forward portion of the body.

Golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion having a front portion including a face portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, and a bottom portion. An inner side of the face portion may have a center portion, an outer wall portion at least partially surrounding the center portion, and a plurality of inner wall portions connecting the center portion to the outer wall portion. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

Iron-type golf clubs and golf club heads

An iron-type golf club head includes a ball striking face and a rear weight member that are engaged through one or more resilient members with a connection structure that creates a mass-damping effect at impact with a golf ball.

GOLF CLUB HAVING A DAMPING ELEMENT FOR BALL SPEED CONTROL

A golf club head including a striking face, a back portion, and a back cover attached to the back portion, wherein the golf club head includes damping structures and materials to achieve desired acoustic characteristics.

GROOVES OF GOLF CLUB HEADS AND METHODS TO MANUFACTURE GROOVES OF GOLF CLUB HEADS

Putter type club head with vertical groove patterns are described herein. A putter type club head comprises a putter face having a plurality of first curved grooves and a plurality of second curved grooves. The first curved grooves and the second curved grooves intersect each other at a plurality of points across the putter face. The width and depth of the first curved grooves and the second curved grooves can vary across the putter face in a direction extending from a heel end to a toe end, and/or in a direction extending from a top rail to a sole. The curved groove pattern provides consistent ball speed performance for any impact location on the putter face.

Picture coding and decoding

A picture with multiple slices is encoded by generating a coded slice representation for each of the slices. A slice flag is set to a first value for the first slice in the picture and corresponding slice flags of the remaining slices are set to a second defined value. A respective slice address is generated for each remaining slice to enable identification of the slice start position within the picture for the slice. A coded picture representation of the picture comprises the coded slice representations, the slice addresses and the slice flags. The slice flags enable differentiation between slices for which slice addresses are required and the slice per picture for which no slice address is needed to identify its slice start position.

An iron-type golf club head comprises a face having a striking surface, a back surface, and a face thickness defined therebetween. The back surface is provided with a cavity cavity-forming portion dented toward the striking surface. The cavity cavity-forming portion is provided with a protuberance in which the face thickness is partially increased, and which extends in the top-bottom direction of the head. In the cross section of the face perpendicular to the striking surface and parallel to the toe-heel direction, the protuberance has: a ridge at which the face thickness is largest in the protuberance; and a pair of inclined surfaces extending from the ridge toward a toe side and heel side of the cavity cavity-forming portion while decreasing the face thickness.

GOLF CLUB HEAD HAVING A MULTI-MATERIAL FACE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

A golf club with a multi-material face is disclosed herein. More specifically, the golf club head in accordance with the present invention has a multi-material striking face portion that is made out of a backing layer having a frontal pocket, made out of titanium, and an insert, made out of a composite material, adapted to be inserted into the frontal pocket. The frontal pocket and the insert could have complementary dovetail shaped undercut features to create a mechanical bond between these two components. The insert may be bonded to the frontal pocket using an adhesive impregnated within a glass fiber weave.
