A system and method for producing an LNG product stream to provide fuel to generators, as an alternative to diesel, to power drilling and other equipment. Using sales gas from a natural gas/NGL plant containing less than 95% methane as a feed stream, production of LNG having 95% or more methane in quantities of 100,000 GPD or more LNG product are achievable with the system and method. The system and method preferably combine use of strategic heat exchange between the feed and a nitrogen-methane flash vapor stream and other streams within the LNG processing system without requiring heat exchange with process streams in the natural gas/NGL plant and a rectifier column that uses an internal knockback condenser and does not require a reboiler to remove heavier components from the sales gas feed.

Single Column Nitrogen Rejection Unit with Side Draw Heat Pump Reflux System and Method

A system for removing nitrogen from a natural gas fluid feed stream includes a main heat exchanger that receives the natural gas fluid feed stream. A distillation column receives a cooled fluid stream from the main heat exchanger and features a return vapor outlet and a side vapor outlet port, The return vapor outlet provides nitrogen vapor to the main heat exchanger which is warmed therein. The side vapor outlet port provides vapor to the main heat exchanger and a reflux compressor receives and compresses the resulting fluid from the main heat exchanger. A reflux aftercooler receives and cools fluid from the reflux compressor, directs cooled fluid to the main heat exchanger and the resulting fluid is directed to a reflux separation device. The reflux separation device has a vapor outlet and a liquid outlet. The vapor outlet of the reflux separation device directs fluid to the main heat exchanger so that fluid is directed to the first reflux inlet port of the distillation column. The liquid outlet of the reflux separation device directs fluid to a second reflux inlet port of the distillation column.

Component Separations

Methods and systems for separating components are disclosed. A process liquid stream is provided that contains a first component and a second component. The process liquid stream is cooled to near a temperature at which the second component forms a solid. The process liquid stream is expanded into a vessel such that the first component and a first portion of the second component vaporize to form a process vapor stream and a second portion of the second component forms a solid to form a solid product stream. The process vapor stream and the solid product stream are passed out of the vessel.

Liquid Component Separations

A method and a system for separating components is disclosed. A process liquid stream, containing a first component and a second component, is passed into an expansion device. The process liquid stream is expanded such that the first component and a first portion of the second component vaporize to form a process vapor stream and a second portion of the second component freezes to form a first solid product stream. The first solid product stream passes out of the expansion device. The process vapor stream passes into a direct-contact heat exchanger against a contact liquid stream. The first portion of the second component desublimates into the contact liquid stream as a second solid product stream. The contact liquid stream and the second solid product stream leave the direct-contact heat exchanger as a slurry stream. The process vapor stream leaves the direct-contact heat exchanger as a stripped process vapor stream.

METHODS FOR PROVIDING REFRIGERATION IN NATURAL GAS LIQUIDS RECOVERY PLANTS

A process and plant for natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery includes a main heat exchanger, a cold gas/liquid separator, a separation or distillation column, and an overhead gas heat exchanger. A pressurized residue gas generated from an overhead gas stream removed the top of the separation or distillation column is expanded and used as a cooling medium in the overhead gas heat exchanger and the main heat exchanger. The expanded residue gas, used as a cooling medium, is then compressed up to a pressure to be combined with the overhead stream from the separation or distillation column.

System and Method for Removing Freezing Components from a Feed Gas

A system for removing freezing components from a feed gas includes a heat exchanger, a scrub column and a return vapor expansion device. The heat exchanger includes a reflux cooling passage and a return vapor passage.
