Method and apparatus for argon rejection and recovery
A method and apparatus for argon rejection and recovery in which argon is separated from air within a cryogenic air separation plant having a divided wall argon rejection column arrangement and condensed using an argon condenser disposed internally within the lower pressure column. The divided wall argon rejection column arrangement may be an annular arrangement or a side-by-side arrangement (i.e. segmented or planar configuration). The resulting argon stream is subsequently rejected or recovered and optionally purified within an integrated adsorbent based argon refining and purification subsystem to produce product grade argon.
Method and apparatus for argon recovery in a cryogenic air separation unit integrated with a pressure swing adsorption system
A method and apparatus for argon recovery in which an impure argon stream is separated from air within a cryogenic air separation unit having an argon rejection column and a reflux type argon condenser disposed internally within the lower pressure column. An impure argon stream is subsequently recovered from the argon rejection column and purified within an integrated adsorbent based argon refining and purification subsystem to produce product grade argon. The waste stream from the adsorbent based argon refining and purification subsystem is recycled back to the argon rejection column so as to improve the argon recovery.

A method and apparatus for increasing argon recovery in which an impure argon stream is separated from air within a cryogenic air separation unit and purified within an integrated, multi-stage pressure swing adsorption system to produce product grade argon with high argon recovery levels.
METHOD FOR REHEATING AN ATMOSPHERIC VAPORIZER USING A GAS ORIGINATING FROM A CRYOGENIC AIR-SEPARATION UNIT
In a method for reheating an atmospheric vaporizer, a cryogenic liquid is vaporized by heat exchange with ambient air in the atmospheric vaporizer and to reheat the vaporizer, a gas is sent thereto at a temperature of at least 0 C., this gas originating from a cryogenic distillation air separation unit.

A method and apparatus for argon recovery in which an impure argon stream is separated from air within a cryogenic air separation unit having a divided wall argon rejection/rectification column. The resulting argon stream is subsequently recovered and purified within an integrated pressure swing adsorption system to produce product grade argon.
Method and apparatus for argon recovery in a cryogenic air separation unit integrated with a pressure swing adsorption system
A method and apparatus for argon recovery in which an impure argon stream is separated from air within a cryogenic air separation unit having a divided wall argon rejection/rectification column. The resulting argon stream is subsequently recovered and purified within an integrated pressure swing adsorption system to produce product grade argon.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ONE OR MORE AIR PRODUCTS, AND AIR SEPARATION PLANT
A process and air separation plant for producing one or more air products by cryogenic separation of air in an air separation plant wherein a first fraction and a second fraction of feed air quantity are post-compressed in a post-compressor from a first pressure level to a second pressure level at least 3 bar above the first pressure level, and are extracted from a post-compressor jointly at the second pressure level, impure nitrogen, the nitrogen content of which lies below an overhead product of a high-pressure column, is extracted from the high-pressure column at the first pressure level and is expanded using a second turboexpander which is mechanically coupled to a first booster, and a fluid enriched with argon is extracted from a low-pressure column, is depleted of argon and is recycled into the low-pressure column.
System and method for generation of oxygen by low-temperature air separation
A system and method serve generate oxygen by low-temperature air separation in a distillation column system having a high-pressure column and a low-pressure column, a main condenser which is constructed as a condenser-evaporator, and an auxiliary column. A gaseous oxygen-containing fraction is introduced into the auxiliary column. A nitrogen-containing liquid stream from the high-pressure column, the main condenser or the low-pressure column is applied as reflux to the top of the auxiliary column. An argon-rich stream from an intermediate site of the low-pressure column is introduced into an argon removal column that has an argon removal column top condenser. The low-pressure column is arranged beside the high-pressure column, the main condenser is arranged over the high-pressure column, the auxiliary column is arranged over the main condenser, the argon removal column is arranged over the auxiliary column and the argon removal column top condenser is arranged over the argon removal column.
PLANT FOR PRODUCING OXYGEN BY CRYOGENIC AIR SEPARATION
The plant is used for producing oxygen by cryogenic air separation. The plant has a high-pressure column, a low-pressure column and a main condenser. An argon-elimination column is in fluid connection with an intermediate point of the low-pressure column and is connected to an argon-elimination column head condenser. An auxiliary column has a sump region, into which gas is introduced from the argon-elimination column head condenser. The head of the auxiliary column is connected to a return flow liquid line, in order to introduce a liquid stream from the high-pressure column or the head condenser. The liquid stream has an oxygen content which is at least equal to that of air. At least one part of the crude liquid oxygen from the sump of the high-pressure column is fed to the auxiliary column at a first intermediate point.
Argon production method and apparatus
A method and apparatus for producing a purified liquid argon product in which liquid argon having oxygen impurities is produced in a cryogenic air separation plant by separating argon from oxygen within an argon column. An impure liquid argon stream, composed of part of the liquid argon, is purified in an adsorbent bed by adsorbing the oxygen impurities in an adsorbent to produce a purified liquid argon stream that constitutes the purified liquid argon product. During adsorption, the adsorbent bed is maintained at a reduced temperature with a coolant to prevent vaporization of the liquid argon. The bed is then regenerated by draining residual liquid argon from the adsorbent bed, introducing the residual liquid argon back into the air separation plant and then desorbing the oxygen impurities with a regeneration gas. After regeneration, the adsorbent bed is refilled with purified liquid argon prior to being brought back on-line.
