APPARATUSES AND PROCESSES FOR THE RECOVERY OF CARBON DIOXIDE STREAMS

Processes and apparatuses for recovering a high purity carbon dioxide stream. A first separation zone that may include a cryogenic fractionation column provides the high-purity CO.sub.2 stream. A vapor stream from the cryogenic fractionation column is passed to a second separation zone to separate the CO.sub.2 from the other components. The second separation zone may include a pressure swing adsorption unit or a solvent separation unit. The second separation zone provides a hydrogen enriched gas stream that may be used in a gas turbine. The second stream from the second separation zone includes carbon dioxide and, after a pressure increase in a compressor, may be recycled to the first separation zone.

A process for producing liquid oxygen, including, a first operating mode, and a second operating mode. During the first operating mode, the distillation column produces a first flowrate of product liquid oxygen, and a first flow rate of liquid nitrogen product. During the second operating mode, the distillation column produces a second flowrate of product liquid oxygen, and a second flow rate of liquid nitrogen product. Wherein, the second flowrate of product liquid oxygen is greater than the first flowrate of product liquid oxygen.

A method for processing a gas mixture containing nitrogen and methane, the gas mixture being at least partly liquefied using a mixed refrigerant circuit and is expanded in a storage tank, wherein: formed in the storage tank are a liquid phase, which is depleted in nitrogen and enriched with methane relative to the gas mixture, and a vapour phase, which is enriched with nitrogen and depleted in methane relative to the gas mixture; at least some of the vapour phase is compressed, at least partly liquefied, and subjected to low-temperature rectification; and formed in the low-temperature rectification are a top gas rich in nitrogen and lean in methane, and a bottom liquid lean in nitrogen and rich in methane. The invention provides that the partial liquefaction of the vapour phase is caused by cooling by means of heat exchange using the mixed refrigerant circuit.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REMOVAL OF NITROGEN FROM LNG
20170370641 · 2017-12-28 ·

A system for the removal of nitrogen from a liquid natural gas (LNG) stream. The system. comprises a feed heat changer and a stripper column. The heat receives the LNG stream and cools the LNG stream via heat exchange with a stripper column side-draw stream to yield a cooled LNG stream and a heated side-draw stream. The stripper column receives the cooled LNG stream at a first tray and the heated side-draw stream. The stripper column produces the stripper column side-draw stream, a stripper column overhead stream, and a stripper column bottom stream. The stripper column side-draw stream is taken from the stripper column at a second tray. The second tray is at least about 15 feet higher than the feed heat exchanger.

Method and installation for cryogenic separation of a gaseous mixture by methane scrubbing

In a process for the combined production of a) a hydrogen-enriched gas and a carbon monoxide-enriched gas and/or b) a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide by cryogenic distillation and scrubbing, a still liquor is extracted from a scrubbing column and sent to a stripping column, a still liquor is extracted from the stripping column and sent to a separating column for carbon monoxide and methane and a cooling fluid is used at a pressure greater than that of the head of the separating column for cooling at least one fluid extracted at an intermediate level from the scrubbing column.

PROCESS FOR PURIFYING NATURAL GAS AND LIQUEFYING CARBON DIOXIDE

A process for producing liquefied natural gas and liquid carbon dioxide from a natural gas feed gas comprising at least the following steps: Separation of a natural gas feed gas into a CO.sub.2-enriched gas stream and a natural gas stream; Cooling of said natural gas in a heat exchanger; Purification of the in step 1 from compounds containing at least six carbon atoms; At least partial condensation of said gas stream resulting from step 3 to form a two-phase stream; Separation of said two-phase stream resulting from step 4 to form a gas stream and a liquid stream; Condensation of the gas stream resulting from step 5 to form a liquefied gas containing less than 5 ppm by volume of compounds containing at least six carbon atoms; Liquefaction of the CO.sub.2-enriched gas stream resulting from step 1 with a portion of the liquid stream resulting from step 5.

PRETREATMENT OF NATURAL GAS PRIOR TO LIQUEFACTION

Method and system for removing high freeze point components from natural gas. Feed gas is cooled in a heat exchanger and separated into a first vapor portion and a first liquid portion. The first liquid portion is reheated using the heat exchanger and separated into a high freeze point components stream and a non-freezing components stream. A portion of the non-freezing components stream may be at least partially liquefied and received by an absorber tower. The first vapor portion may be cooled and received by the absorber tower. An overhead vapor product which is substantially free of high freeze point freeze components and a bottoms product liquid stream including freeze components and non-freeze components are produced using the absorber tower.
