A method for operating a device for the dewatering and volume reduction of material to be pressed, more particularly sludge, removed solids or screenings, controls the rotational speed of a screw shaft that expels liquid out of the material to be pressed in a pressing arrangement. The control is based either on detecting a torque applied by a drive motor to the screw shaft or detecting an internal pressure prevailing within the pressing arrangement. According to the invention, a torque characteristic curve can be changed on the basis of the detected internal pressure and/or a pressure characteristic curve can be changed on the basis of the detected torque. Moreover, the invention relates to a device for the dewatering and volume reduction of material to be pressed.

Method of Producing a Bioplastic Granulate Based on Sunflower Seed Shells/Sunflower Seed Hull Material on the One Hand and a Plastic Material on the Other Hand

A method of producing a bioplastic granulate on the basis of sunflower seed shells or sunflower seed hulls. In the method, ground sunflower seed shells/sunflower seed hull material is provided, wherein the particle size is in the region of 3 mm or less, preferably in the region of 0.01 to 1 mm, preferably in the region of 0.1 to 0.3 mm. A plastic material is provided, which is compounded with the sunflower seed shells/sunflower seed hull material, wherein the compounding operation is preferably effected in an extruder, preferably a double-screw extruder. The compounded material is chopped at the end of the extruder section with a tool with the addition of water, wherein the water is at a temperature of preferably more than 50 C., preferably about 80 to 90 C., to cool down the compound material. During the compounding operation, the compounding material is subjected to atmospheric degassing and/or vacuum degassing.

Veneer dehydration apparatus includes a first stationary single dehydrating roller and a plurality of second movable sectional dehydrating rollers, which rollers are disposed one above the other so that a nip through which a veneer sheet for dehydration is moved is formed between the first and second rollers. A stop device determines the initial position of each second roller relative to the first roller where a predetermined spaced distance is formed between the first and the second rollers. An urging device yieldably urges each second roller to the initial position. The second roller is movable away from the initial position against the urging force of the urging device independently of the other second rollers by a knot present in the veneer sheet and just moving through the nip between the second roller and the first roller.

An invention relates to thermal or thermomechanical processing of hygroscopic material to adjust the material properties. The invention concerns a modification arrangement for the hygroscopic material. The modification arrangement comprises a modification unit (202) and a fluid container (204) that is coupled with a control valve (205) to at least one fluid aperture (203). The modification arrangement is configured for heating the hygroscopic material in the modification unit (202) to extract water from it and, in response to opening of the control valve (205), leading fluid from the fluid container through said at least one fluid aperture (203) into the modification unit (202). The modification arrangement further comprises a treatment agent (207) added to the fluid so that the treatment agent (207) is absorbed into the hygroscopic material and modifies it. The treatment agent (207) includes at least one of the following ingredients: a preservative, a dye, a pigment, an aroma, an odour eliminator, a pesticide, an impregnation ingredient, or a fire retardant.

The wiper includes a strip of cleaning cloth and an abutting element for pressing the cleaning cloth against the face of the substrate. The liquid pump sends cleaning liquid to the abutting element that in turn sends the cleaning liquid to the cleaning cloth when the abutting element presses the cleaning cloth against the face of the substrate. The dry cleaning unit includes a wiper comprising a strip of cleaning cloth for wiping dry the face of the substrate without leaving any water mark on the face.
