The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for chemical smoothing of a plastic part (10) produced by selective layerwise consolidation of a construction material. The process comprises the steps of: temperature-controlling the plastic part to a first temperature; temperature-controlling solvent vapour (8) comprising a solvent to a second temperature; subjecting the plastic part (10) to the solvent vapour (8) temperature-controlled to the second temperature for a particular duration, wherein the subjecting of the plastic part (10) to the solvent vapour (8) has the result that an outer layer of the plastic part (10) is liquefied; and discharging at least a portion of the solvent vapour (8) after the particular duration, wherein the plastic part (10) is stationary from commencement of the temperature-controlling of the plastic part until termination of the discharging of the solvent vapour (8).

Devices and methods are disclosed for singulating and dispensing a bead. A pocket formed in a primary nest retains a single bead drawn by vacuum from a bulk hopper such that rotation of the primary nest delivers the single bead to an ejection position. At the ejection position, the bead may be delivered to a transfer tube that carries it to a bead receiver. Alternatively, the bead may be delivered directly to the bead receiver from the primary nest or via transfer to a secondary rotating nest. One or both sides of the bead may be examined for defects using inspection ports in the primary and secondary nests.

The application relates to a process for drying a composition comprising an alkali metal salt of a compound of general formula (I) R.sup.1R.sup.2NCHR.sup.3COOM or formula (II) R.sup.1R.sup.2NCHR.sup.3CHR.sup.3COOM, in particular N,N-dimethyl glycinate salt, and the use thereof. In the process, the composition, in particular the N,N-di methyl glycinate salt, is dried by feeding the composition into a fluidized bed dryer and subjecting the composition to a heat treatment by contacting the composition in the fluidized bed dryer with a drying gas stream, and during the heat treatment a solution or dispersion of the composition is sprayed onto at least a portion of the composition present in the fluidized bed dryer, or alternatively or in addition the composition, in particular N,N-dimethyl glycinate salt, is fed into a fluidized bed dryer and subjected to heat treatment in the fluidized bed dryer by contacting the composition with a drying gas stream, and the temperature of the composition in the fluidized bed during the heat treatment does not exceed 50 C.
