A grain handling system having an air system is presented that is capable of automatically detecting and clearing a plug in a tube of an air system using a central controller, an air pressure sensor, a dynamic pressure relief valve and a variable frequency drive connected to and controlling a blower motor. When a plug is detected, the central controller stops the flow of grain into the tube and ramps up the output of the blower motor to full capacity. Thereafter, the central controller performs an unplugging routine by opening and closing the dynamic pressure relief valve causing surges of air to impact the plug either breaking up the plug or bumping the plug along the tube until it clears. Once the plug clears, the central controller resumes normal operation.

SHEET DRYING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM PROVIDED THEREWITH

A sheet drying apparatus includes a conveyance portion, a drying portion, and a sheet lift sensing mechanism. The conveyance portion has a conveyance member that moves while holding a sheet having an image formed on it with ink containing moisture. The drying portion is arranged opposite the conveyance member and heats and dries the sheet. The sheet lift sensing mechanism includes a sheet lift sensor having a light emitter and light receiver opposite each other in the width direction of the sheet horizontally orthogonal to the conveyance direction and a sensing assist member that protrudes from above into a conveyance space above the conveyance member and that contacts a lifted part of the sheet to rotate it in a horizontal direction. The distance from the conveyance member to the sensing assist member is smaller than the minimum height of the conveyance space.

The invention provides an arrangement for reducing static charge in a fluid bed dryer. The arrangement includes a hollow cylinder having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface has a plurality of slotted projections formed radially at equal intervals along the axis of the hollow cylinder. The outer surface has an ionizing apparatus mounted on each of the slotted projections through a retention means. The arrangement further includes a pair of coupling means at both ends of the hollow cylinder for coupling the arrangement to the hot air supply duct of the fluid bed dryer. On applying a voltage, the ionizing apparatus, generate positive and negative ions into the hollow cylinder. The generated positive and negative ions are carried by the hot air to the sample drying unit of the fluid bed dryer for neutralizing the static charge generated during the drying of the sample.
