A composite ball bat comprising a handle, a tapered portion extending from an attachment end of the handle, and a barrel portion extending from the tapered portion to an end-cap end is provided. The barrel portion includes an inner surface and an outer surface. A foam core insert is preferably located within the barrel portion so that it is friction fit within the inner surface of the bat. The specific strength of the foam core insert may be 40 kNm/kg or more, and the specific modulus of the foam core insert may be at least 1,000 kNm/kg. The foam core insert is preferably less than 0.5 g/cc and preferably has a compressive strength greater than 16,500 kPa.

BAT WITH DISCS IN ITS BARREL PORTION

An apparatus for a ball bat and a ball bat comprising at least one disc member that defines an outer diameter corresponding to an inner diameter defined by the ball bat to create a fit within close proximity between the at least one disc member and the ball bat. The at least one disc member can be located within the barrel portion of the ball bat. The at least one disc member can include at least one solid disc member that is located within a sweet spot of the ball bat. In some embodiments, the apparatus for a ball bat and the ball bat can further include an at least one insulation foam member. The at least one insulation foam member can separate the at least one disc member. The at least one insulation foam member can define a hollow center portion.

A baseball bat, that is formed of an elongate shell including a striking section, a handle section and a tapered section between the striking section and the handle section, further includes a tubular damper member received within a portion of a hollow cavity of the striking section. The tubular damper member is reduced in diameter relative to the hollow cavity and is supported by a foam layer extending about a circumference of the tubular damper member and which is under resilient compression between the tubular damper member and the striking section of the shell which surrounds the tubular damper member. A barrier layer between the foam layer and the shell is bonded with a first adhesive to the shell and with a second adhesive to the barrier layer to prevent the first adhesive from migrating into the foam layer.

BALL BAT WITH ADJUSTABLE-WEIGHT END CAP

An end-cap assembly for a ball bat or other sporting-good implement includes one or more removable weights, so that the weight of the end capand of the ball batmay be adjusted. The one or more weights may reside in a receiving space or recess in an end-cap cup of the end-cap assembly. A fastener removably attaches the one or more weights to the end-cap cup. In some embodiments, the fastener may include threads that engage threads in a bore in the end-cap cup.

Baseball or softball bat with modified restitution characteristics

A softball or baseball bat with modified restitution characteristic is provided. The bat can comprise a substantially rigid core coupled with a single or multi-piece sleeve. The core can comprise a tip end, a barrel portion, a handle taper, and a handle. A sleeve assembly can be disposed over the barrel portion, and the sleeve assembly can comprise one or more materials capable of impact absorption. The sleeve assembly can include a ring portion positioned about a circumference of the barrel portion, an outer sleeve, and an inner sleeve disposed between the outer sleeve and the barrel portion.

Ball bat with one-piece multi-wall barrel portion

A ball bat, extending along a longitudinal axis. The bat includes a barrel portion, an end cap and a handle portion. The barrel portion is formed of a fiber composite material and includes a proximal region having a continuous single wall construction, a central region and a distal region.
