Additively manufactured heat exchanger

A heat exchanger and a method for additively manufacturing the heat exchanger are provided. The heat exchanger includes a plurality of fluid passageways that are formed by additive manufacturing methods which enable the formation of fluid passageways that are smaller in size, that have thinner walls, and that have complex and intricate heat exchanger features that were not possible using prior manufacturing methods. For example, the fluid passageways may be curvilinear and may include heat exchanging fins that are less than 0.01 inches thick and formed at a fin density of more than four heat exchanging fins per centimeter. In addition, the heat exchanging fins may be angled with respect to the walls of the fluid passageways and adjacent fins may be offset relative to each other.

The first chamber includes a first heat transfer medium and a first wick arranged to transport the first heat transfer medium to an evaporator region of the first chamber. The second chamber includes a second heat transfer medium and a second wick arranged to transport the second heat transfer medium to an evaporator region of the second chamber.

Method and Device for Direct-Contact Heat Exchange between a Fouling Liquid and a Cooling Fluid

A device and a method for conducting a heat exchange process is disclosed. A direct-contact heat exchanger is provided comprising a process inlet, a coolant inlet, and an interior surface. A process stream is provided to the process inlet to be cooled in the heat exchange process by direct contact with a coolant stream that is provided to the coolant inlet. The coolant stream comprises a liquid or a gas. The heat exchange process comprises a phase change from liquid to gas, a sensible heat transfer, or a combination thereof. The cooling process leads to chemical reactions, solids formation in the bulk phase, or a combination thereof. The use of the direct-contact heat exchanger minimizes such reactions on the interior surface. In this manner, the heat exchange process is conducted.

Method and Device for Direct-Contact Heat Exchange between a Fouling Liquid and a Cooling Fluid

A device and a method for conducting a heat exchange process is disclosed. A direct-contact heat exchanger is provided comprising a process inlet, a coolant inlet, and an interior surface. A process stream is provided to the process inlet to be cooled in the heat exchange process by direct contact with a coolant stream that is provided to the coolant inlet. The coolant stream comprises a liquid or a gas. The heat exchange process comprises a phase change from liquid to gas, a sensible heat transfer, or a combination thereof. The cooling process leads to chemical reactions, solids formation in the bulk phase, or a combination thereof. The use of the direct-contact heat exchanger minimizes such reactions on the interior surface. In this manner, the heat exchange process is conducted.

DRYING APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR PREPARING BATTERIES

The present application relates to a drying apparatus and a system for preparing batteries. The drying apparatus includes a drying tower and a cooling mechanism. The cooling mechanism is disposed on the drying tower, and the cooling mechanism is used for cooling the inner wall of the drying tower, so that the temperature of the inner wall of the drying tower is controlled within the required temperature range. In this way, when the drying tower performs spray drying operation, after the material is in contact with the inner wall of the drying tower, the phenomenon that the material melts because of a high temperature of the inner wall and adheres to the inner wall is avoided. This reduces the probability of the material hanging on the wall, thereby improves the production rate and granulation quality of the material.

DRYING APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR PREPARING BATTERIES

The present application relates to a drying apparatus and a system for preparing batteries. The drying apparatus includes a drying tower and a cooling mechanism. The cooling mechanism is disposed on the drying tower, and the cooling mechanism is used for cooling the inner wall of the drying tower, so that the temperature of the inner wall of the drying tower is controlled within the required temperature range. In this way, when the drying tower performs spray drying operation, after the material is in contact with the inner wall of the drying tower, the phenomenon that the material melts because of a high temperature of the inner wall and adheres to the inner wall is avoided. PARALLEL-FLOW IMMERSION HEAT EXCHANGER

A heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body arranged along an axis and having an external surface in contact with a surrounding first fluid. The body defines a first fluid passage centered on and extending along the axis. The body also defines a second fluid passage extending parallel with respect to the axis and spaced away from the axis by a second passage distance, and a third fluid passage extending parallel with respect to the axis and spaced away from the axis by a third passage distance. The first, second, and third passages are parallel to one another, while the third passage distance is greater than the second passage distance. Each of the first and third passages is configured to accept a flow of a second fluid and the second fluid passage is configured to hold a volume of air to thermally insulate the first passage from the third passage.
