Shell and tube heat exchangers
11306972 · 2022-04-19 · ·

A heat exchanger in one aspect includes a longitudinal shell and a transverse shell oriented transversely thereto. A J-shaped tube bundle carrying a tube-side fluid extends through the longitudinal and transverse shells from a first tubesheet in the longitudinal shell to a second tubesheet in the transverse shell. The first and second tubesheets are oriented perpendicular to each other. In a related aspect a dual heat exchanger unit includes a first longitudinal shell, a second longitudinal shell, and a common transverse shell extending transversely between and fluidly coupled to the longitudinal shells. The longitudinal shells may be parallel to each other. The shells are fluidly coupled directly together to form a common shell-side space between pairs of inlet and outlet tubesheets. A pair of J-shaped tube bundles is disposed in the dual heat exchanger unit for heating two tube-side fluids.

Provided are a heat exchanger capable of cooling a shell plate and having good assemblability and a hot water apparatus having the same. A primary heat exchanger includes a heat exchanging portion, a shell plate, and a shell pipe portion. The shell plate surrounds the heat exchanging portion. The shell pipe portion is for cooling the shell plate. The shell plate includes a front surface portion and a main body portion. The main body portion is installed on the front surface portion and is formed by bending one sheet of plate into a U shape. The shell pipe portion is bent in a U shape along an inner surface of the main body portion and installed on the inner surface.

Heat exchanger with multistaged cooling

A heat exchanger for abating compounds produced in semiconductor processes. When hot effluent flows into the heat exchanger, a coolant can be flowed to walls of a fluid heat exchanging surface within the heat exchanger. The heat exchanging surface can include a plurality of channel regions which creates a multi stage cross flow path for the hot effluent to flow down the heat exchanger. This flow path forces the hot effluent to hit the cold walls of the fluid heat exchanging surface, significantly cooling the effluent and preventing it from flowing directly into the vacuum pumps and causing heat damage. Embodiments described herein also relate to methods of forming a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger can be created by sequentially depositing layers of thermally conductive material on surfaces using 3-D printing, creating a much smaller footprint and reducing costs.

Inverted heat exchanger device

An inverted heat exchanger device includes an exterior conduit elongated and extending around a center axis between a first end and second end. The exterior conduit including a body having an exterior surface, an interior surface, a center core elongated along the center axis, and plural walls extending between the center core and the interior surface. A first conduit is disposed inside the exterior conduit that includes an inlet, plural core passages, an outlet, and internal manifolds. A first fluid is configured to flow along the first conduit. A second conduit is also disposed inside the exterior conduit. The second conduit includes an inlet, plural core passages, an outlet, and internal manifolds. A second fluid is configured to flow along the second conduit. The plural walls are configured to define the first conduit and the second conduit within the body of the exterior conduit.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING BIO-DIESEL AND REACTOR

A reactor and process for the production of bio-diesel. The reactor includes one or more coiled reaction lines. The lines are positioned within a tank containing a heat transfer media such as molten salt, maintained at about 750 F. A pump circulates the media within the tank. An emulsion of alcohol; refined feed stock, including glycerides and/or fatty acids; and preferably water is pumped through the reaction lines at temperatures and pressures sufficient to maintain the alcohol in a super-critical state. The curvature of the coils, pump pulsing, and the flow rate of the emulsion keep the emulsion in a turbulent state while in the reactor, ensuring thorough mixing of the alcohol and feed stock. The alcohol reacts with the glycerides and fatty acids to form bio-diesel. The reaction is fast, efficient with regard to energy input and waste generation, and requires minimal alcohol.

Furnace

A furnace is disclosed. The furnace may include an enclosure having a vertical support column formed by a heat exchanger compartment panel and a blower compartment panel. The furnace may include a window assembly having venting openings hidden by a viewing window. The furnace may also include a rail to support a removable heat exchanger system. The furnace may further include a wire retaining fin assembly to retain a wire. A heat exchanger header design including features to retain a sealant is also disclosed.

Heat exchanger channels

A heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body having a first end and a second end opposed to the first end along a flow axis. A plurality of flow channels is defined in the heat exchanger body extending axially with respect to the flow axis. A first set of the flow channels forms a first flow circuit and a second set of the flow channels forms a second flow circuit that is in fluid isolation from the first flow circuit. Each flow channel is fluidly isolated from the other flow channels. The flow channels all conform to a curvilinear profile.
