RE-DIRECTION OF VAPOR FLOW ACROSS TUBULAR CONDENSERS
20170307300 · 2017-10-26 ·

Vapor flow-diverting devices that re-direct upwardly flowing vapor, for example, in a downward direction across condenser tubes disposed in the upper or top section of a vapor-liquid contacting apparatus, are described. These devices are particularly beneficial in tubular condensers within distillation columns and may be used in combination with other associated equipment (e.g., a deflector plate and divider plate) as well as in combination with the tube surface enhancements to improve the heat transfer coefficient.

A heat exchanger has a first plurality of fluid passages with an inlet manifold communicating into a core portion, and then an outlet manifold. A second plurality of fluid passages has an inlet manifold communicating into a core portion, and then into an outlet manifold and the core portions of both the first and second pluralities of fluid passages having smaller cross-sectional areas than cross-sectional areas of the inlet and outlet manifolds. A gas turbine engine and a method of forming a heat exchanger are also disclosed.

Process For The Production Of A Thermally Conductive Article

The present invention relates to a process for the production of a thermally conductive article comprising pleating a thermally anisotropic sheet having a thermal conductivity in plain which is higher than the thermal conductivity perpendicular to the plain, and compacting the pleated structure, to an article obtainable by said process, to the use of said thermally conductive article for production of a device, and to such a device.

Reduced thermal expansion closure bars for a heat exchanger

A plate fin heat exchanger is configured to receive hot flow from a hot source and cool flow from a cool source. The plate fin heat exchanger includes a plurality of plates arranged in parallel to define a plurality of flow passages there between, and a set of closure bars arranged at a first side of the plurality of plates to seal a first set of the flow passages against ingress of the hot flow, thereby directing the hot flow into a second set of the flow passages. Each respective closure bar includes an inner core formed of a first material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion and an outer cladding arranged about the inner core, the outer cladding formed of a second material having a second coefficient of thermal expansion. The first coefficient of thermal expansion is less than the second coefficient of thermal expansion.
