A loadable ammunition magazine for use with a sporting firearm includes a housing defining a cartridge-loading compartment and a follower compartment, a cover that alternately covers and reveals the cartridge-loading compartment, and a follower that urges cartridges in the cartridge-loading compartment towards a mouth of the magazine. A locking assembly prevents the magazine from being detached from the lower receiver of the firearm without disassembly of the firearm action. In one embodiment, the locking assembly includes an expandable insert, and an actuator configured to expand from a first state wherein the outer surface of the insert is spaced from the well wall to a second state wherein the outer surface of the insert tightly engages the well wall.

A method and apparatus for storing and loading ammunition cartridges are disclosed. An ammunition apparatus may comprise a bay that is substantially cylindrically shaped, an access channel, a slide restraint, and a saddle. The access channel may be a cross sectional cutout in the bay. The slide restraint may comprise five fins shaped to track the contour of the tapered end of a cartridge. The saddle may be disposed on the outside of the bay, opposite the access channel, and may be shaped to complement the contour of a cartridge. An ammunition tray may comprise multiple ammunition apparatuses secured together. A user may load a cartridge from an ammunition tray into a magazine by using an ammunition apparatus saddle to partially displace an already loaded cartridge and then using his or her thumb to slide a cartridge from the ammunition tray into the magazine.

A firearm magazine loader and method are disclosed herein. The firearm magazine loader, in an embodiment, has a receptacle configured to receive a plurality of ammunition units. The firearm magazine loader also has a body that defines or includes a loading structure. The loading structure is configured to be coupled to a plurality of different types of magazine adapters. Each one of the magazine adapters is configured to be coupled to one of a plurality of different types of firearm magazines.

A firearm magazine case that is sized to hold a stack of firearm magazines, which case includes a spring mechanism at one end such that the magazines are advanced within the case to a ready position as the magazines are extracted from the case and configured to be mounted on a person's front or side so that the magazines are reached with an easy and natural motion, whereby the case is contoured to a person's body and is configured such that magazines are able to be extracted in one step, yet are effectively protected from the environment, the case includes an attachment mechanism that allows the case to be mounted either horizontally or vertically, according to the user's preference, the case's attachment mechanism, which consists of an x shaped ridge or lip which coordinates to accept a triangular insert that is attached to a person's clothing, whereby sliding any side of the x down over the triangle attaches the case in a secure manner, yet allows the case to be quickly and easily detached and/or replaced with a new magazine dispenser, and the case is stackable (and perhaps joiningly stackable) with other cases.

Rounds are provided to the rounds recess and positionally maintained by a rounds recess bottom and first and second rounds recess ledges. With a magazine positioned within the magazine recess and rounds within the rounds recess, as the rounds are slidably moved out of the rounds recess, each round abuts the rounds abutment and pivots to orient the round such that its second case end is angled towards the magazine recess.

A magazine loader include a main body, a rounds recess, and a magazine recess.
