A recoil spring abutment for a slide of a pistol, the slide including slide grooves on both sides, and the recoil spring abutment being designed to be insertable and mountable in the slide and includes a preferably essentially semi-cylindrical base body having at least partially continuous guide rails on both sides, and an essentially circular step on a rear side for accommodating a recoil spring assembly. The invention also relates to a modular slide for such a recoil spring abutment, as well as to a slide cover sleeve, which may be mounted on the slide by means of the latter, and to the slide cover sleeve itself.

A magazine well formed in a lower receiver of a firearm is provided. The firearm may be a rifle and particularly a tactical rifle such as, but not limited to an AR-15. The magazine well accepts more than one type of magazine. Each type of magazine operates to hold a size of ammunition that differs from the other magazines. This allows users to shoot varying sized or caliber ammunition from the same firearm by simply changing the magazine that is loaded with varying size or caliber ammunition.

The disclosure describes a convertible lower receiver. The convertible lower receiver includes a first forward pivot assembly and a second forward pivot assembly. The first forward pivot assembly is associated with a first forward pivot receptacle that is designed to mate with a first type of upper receiver when a forward takedown pin is inserted through the first forward pivot receptacle and a forward lug of the first type of upper receiver. The second forward pivot assembly is associated with a second forward pivot receptacle that is designed to mate with a second type of upper receiver when the forward takedown pin is inserted through the second forward pivot receptacle and a forward lug of the second type of upper receiver. The convertible lower receiver further includes a multi-configuration magazine well that is configured to accept a first magazine associated with the first type of upper receiver when the first type of upper receiver is mated and to accept a second magazine associated with the second type of upper receiver when the second type of upper receiver is mated.
