Automated gun barrel cleaning system and method thereof

Disclosed is an automated gun barrel cleaning system (100) and a method thereof for straight hollow cylindrical objects, preferably gun barrels. The system (100) enables scrubbing, mopping, lubrication and wiping of the gun barrel without the need to remove the cleaning device out of the gun barrel during cleaning and to replace the brush or mopping/wiping cloth. The method of cleaning provides a time-stamped cleaning data to monitor the condition of the gun barrel and to estimate quality and effective service life of the gun barrel. The system (100) comprises of a cleaning device 102 connected to a main controller unit 106 wherein the cleaning device 102 includes drive wheel assembly 210, a driven wheel assembly 240, a spray nozzle assembly 260, a vision system 270 and a cleaning assembly 220 providing controlled scrubbing, mopping and wiping functions with controlled supply of pressurized cleaning agent and lubricant oil.

Implementations of an applicator syringe are provided. In some implementations, the applicator syringe may be configured to dispense a lubricant from a dispensing needle thereof. In some implementations, the applicator syringe may be configured so that the plunger shaft and the dispensing needle are removable when not in use. In some implementations, when the applicator syringe has been disassembled, the dispensing needle may be stored within the barrel of the applicator syringe and the plunger shaft secured about the exterior of the barrel. In some implementations, the applicator syringe may comprise a barrel having a finger flange, a plunger positioned within the interior chamber of the barrel, a plunger shaft configured to urge the plunger forward, a dispensing needle that can be removably secured to the front end of the barrel, a removable cap, and a barrel plug.

PULL-THROUGH APPLICATOR ASSEMBLY FOR A FIREARM

A pull-through applicator assembly for maintenance of a gun barrel. The pull-through applicator assembly is a unitary, disposable, and configured for easy manufacturing relative to conventional pull-through assemblies. The economics of the disclosed pull-through applicator assembly is sufficient to permit packaging and sale as a disposable unit, for discarding after a single use. The single-use aspect enables the fibrous body to be configured primarily for compliance to the internal geometry of the gun barrel (e.g., the grooves of the rifling) without need for considering the durability over multiple uses. Accordingly, enhanced contact with the internal geometry of the gun barrel is realized in the convenient form of a pull-through applicator that is disposable. The pull-through applicator may be configured of biodegradable materials to enhance the disposable aspect.

FIREARM

A firearm with a slide and a frame. The slide has a slide rail. The frame has a frame rail. The frame rail interfaces with the slide rail. The frame rail has a lubrication groove and a debris removal port. The lubrication groove extends along a surface of the frame rail that bears against the slide rail during operation of the firearm. The debris removal port has gap within the frame rail proximate to an end of the lubrication groove.

GUN OIL COMPOSITION

A gun oil composition adapted specifically for the needs and requirements of modern firearms. The gun oil composition improves lubricity and gun performance under normal and extreme heat and pressure, minimizes and largely prevents the build-up of carbon and debris fouling on metal and non-metal components of the firearm, and substantially reduces cleaning time, while providing increased protection against environmental components such as dust, dirt and rust. The gun oil composition can include a base oil having at least a high viscosity index, an oil having at least a medium viscosity index with a detergent additive, a low viscosity penetrating oil, and a sulfurized ester.
