Double-barreled revolver

A firearm has a frame, a pivot connection connected to the frame, an elongated trigger lever coupled to the pivot connection and movable in a first direction between a rest position and an actuated position, the trigger lever including a first portion and a second portion, the first and second portions of the trigger lever being configured to receive first and second fingers of a user, and a trigger biasing structure including one or more bias springs to apply a force to the trigger lever to bias the trigger lever in a second direction opposite the first direction, and wherein a force applied to move the trigger lever in the first direction is the sum of an applied force multiplied by the distance between the first portion and the pivot connection and the applied force multiplied by the distance between the second portion and the pivot connection.

Safety mechanism for hammer-operated firearms

A firearm with safety mechanism in one embodiment includes a barrel supported by a housing, at least one cartridge-receiving chamber in communication with a bore of the barrel, and a rotatable hammer. The safety mechanism includes a biased safety component, which may be a blocking pin in one embodiment, mounted to and rotatable with the hammer. When the firearm is exposed to an abnormal impact force caused by bumping or dropping the firearm, the safety component changes position and interacts with a blocking feature on the hammer pivot pin to stop or delay the motion of the hammer in a manner which prevents discharging the firearm. The blocking feature may be a notch in one embodiment. Rotating the hammer between rearward cocked and forward firing positions alternatingly aligns or misaligns the blocking pin with the notch, respectively.

A firearm lock mechanism includes a trigger, a hammer, a stirrup connected to the hammer at a stirrup connection point, and a spring operably connected to the stirrup at a spring connection point. Progressive pivoting of the trigger drives corresponding progressive pivoting of the hammer. The stirrup connection point is disposed forward of the hammer pivot point. One of the spring connection point, hammer pivot point, and stirrup connection point is offset relative to and laterally spaced between the others of the points to be a vertex of an intermediate angle cooperatively defined by the points. The angle increases in magnitude as the trigger drives pivoting of the hammer. A toggle line is defined between the trigger pivot point and the hammer pivot point. The trigger contacts the hammer at a contact point that shifts across the toggle line as the trigger drives pivoting of the hammer.

An improved revolver is disclosed. The revolver has a hollow handle and a cartridge cylinder. The revolver includes a magazine clip, releasably insertable into an interior region of the handle, and at least two cartridge sets contained within the clip. Each cartridge clip, ordinarily cylindrical in shape and unable to be inserted into the magazine clip, is easily compressed by a user into an elliptical shape, which is an improvement designed to enable quick loading, unloading, and reloading of cartridges into the magazine clip and thereafter into the cylinder of the revolver.

FIRING MECHANISM OF A FIREARM

A method of firing a firearm includes compressing a main spring to rotate a latch pin lever; forcing a latch pin forward by the latch pin lever to force a cylinder forward toward a barrel; sealing or substantially sealing the barrel and the cylinder; and releasing a hammer to strike a cartridge while the barrel and the cylinder are sealed.

Revolvers have a frame, a cylinder rotatably mounted to the frame and defining a plurality of passages, each passage having a chamber configured to receive a cartridge, each passage defining a bore forward of the chamber and configured to closely receive a bullet and retain propellant pressure to expel the bullet, and each bore having a forward aperture. A firing facility may be connected to the frame rearward of the cylinder and registered with a selected one of the passages, the revolver being free of elements forward of the selected one of the passages. The frame may include a ring defining an aperture configured to receive a first finger. The ring may be free of a trigger. A finger rest may be outside of the ring and configured to engage a second finger. The finger rest may be an elongated arcuate extension having a free end away from the frame.
