A device for selective affixation to a profiled rail is generally provided. The device generally includes a body and a clamp assembly operatively supported thereby. The body has an upper portion characterized by first and second opposing and spaced apart sidewall segments. The first sidewall segment has a profiled rail receiving surface and the second sidewall segment has a channeled face. The clamp assembly includes a clamping block adapted for advancement toward the profiled rail receiving surface of the first sidewall segment of the upper body portion, a portion of the clamping block pivotingly received by the channeled face of the second sidewall segment of the upper body portion so as to operatively self-seat the clamping block with a profiled rail interposed between the first sidewall segment and the clamping block of the clamp assembly upon advancement thereof.

Cartridge and system for generating a projectile with a selectable launch velocity

A weapon system includes a cartridge and a fire control apparatus have been developed for generating a projectile with a selectable launch velocity. The cartridge includes multiple primers and propellant chambers which may be individually selected by the fire controller so as to fire the projectile at a selected launch velocity. Additionally after firing the selected primers and propellant charges, the fire controller sends a second firing signal to all remaining primers after a suitable delay. The second firing signal ensures that all remaining propellant is initiated and consumed, thus rendering the cartridge safe to eject. The delay between the first firing signal and the second firing signal is sufficient to allow the projectile to be expelled from the cartridge so that the launch velocity is not affected by the combustion of the remaining propellant.

A grenade launcher, comprising a barrel (10), a trigger mechanism base (3) and a breech (2) wherein the trigger mechanism base (3) is adapted to be mounted on a host rail interface (1). On the opposed sides (3) of the trigger mechanism base (3), guide rails (5, 8) are arranged for sliding mounting of the barrel (10). The host rail interface (1) is clamped between the breech (2) and the trigger mechanism base (3). The breech (2) is fitted with a cavity (11) that surrounds one of the guide rails (5). The inner wall of the cavity (11) is pressed to this guide rail (5) by a detent (4) that is insertable between this guide rail (5) and the opposed inner wall of the cavity (11) that is inclined in a wedge-like way. A pin (6) bears on this guide rail (5) from the inner side, the pin being mounted in a sliding way in a recess transversally in the breech (2) and fitted with a compression spring (7).
