CONNECTOR

An accessory mounting interface and method are disclosed. The interface has an upper portion having a firearm accessory and at least one through hole extending from a first surface to a second surface of the upper portion, the upper portion having a first post portion with a first side surface and a first flange. A first elongated fastener is arranged through the through hole and has a first end extending below the second surface of the upper portion. The interface also has a second post portion that is movable between a first configuration defining a first transverse distance between the first and second side surfaces and a second configuration defining a second transverse distance between the first and second side surfaces, the first transverse distance greater than the second transverse distance. The first flange substantially opposes the second flange when the second post portion is in the first configuration.

A housing having a vertically extending axial cavity. An internal body carried in the axial cavity and operable between a raised position and a lowered position within the axial cavity. A socket mount receiving at least a portion of the housing in releasable interlocking engagement. An actuator channel disposed in the housing extending transverse to the axial cavity. An actuating device extending through the actuator channel and engaging the internal body. The internal body is operatively associated with a releasable connection between the housing and the socket mount. The actuating device causes the internal body to be depressed and moved from the raised position to the lowered position within the axial cavity so that the releasable connection is disengaged to release the interlocking engagement of the housing from the socket mount.

An equipment retention system is provided for selective hands-free retention of an object. In one example, the equipment retention system includes a receiver having a first component and a second component secured to the first component. The system may further include a mounting post having a first end and a second end. In one example, the mounting post selectively engages with the receiver via the first end and is fixedly secured to a piece of equipment via the second, opposite, end. In one example, the receiver defines a substantially Y-shaped opening configured to selectively receive the first end of the mounting post. In another example, upon insertion of the first end of the mounting post into the Y-shaped opening, the mounting post is locked within the Y-shaped opening via engagement between the mounting post and an angled protrusion extending away from the second component of the receiver.

A shoulder strap guide, having quick connect provisions. A rigid C-shaped guide is alternately oriented onto a vest to either prevent upward translation of a shoulder strap into a wearer's neck or downward translation of a shoulder strap off of the user's shoulder. The guide is equipped with quick disconnect provisions, so that it can be quickly disengaged and reconnected to change functions from preventing upward translation to preventing download translation. The bi-directional nature of the guide is particularly helpful for items that have straps that may be worn over the shoulder on the same side of the body or worn on the opposing shoulder over the head. The C-shaped guide is rigid and retains the strap and does not give way or allow release of the strap upon application of force.
