An apparatus for use with a firearm, for example a shotgun, to aid in the sighting of the target by the user by providing a more directed view of the firearm's existing front sight by providing a collimated and more linear aligned line of sight. The apparatus is formed of any of a number of materials including rubber, plastic, metal or material composite and is solid. It is either rigid or flexible and can be installed or uninstalled quickly at any time at any position along the axis of the firearm barrel between the front sight and the users eye for temporary or permanent use. The apparatus may be of a single monolithic construction or segmented (i.e., notched) so as to break off into smaller segments which can be useful for a particular application or user. Various textured surfaces including camouflage colorings, and non-reflective finishes are anticipated as are straight, curved, or textured main sections. The apparatus may be formed of any desired material and finished in any color and surface finish or treatment, as described, so as to be a functional accessory to any firearm.

Firearm systems and methods

A firearm can have a bolt having a plurality of locking lugs that are configured to have a shear area that is larger than that of a standard M16/M4. A bolt carrier can have a bolt that has a double cut cam having an unlocking cam surface that has sufficient dwell increase to delay a start of unlocking when the bolt carrier is used in an M4 carbine. A stepped extractor pin may be provided that prevents disengagement of the extractor pin. A tube can be configured to provide gas from a barrel of the firearm to the piston via the carrier key. The tube can have a heat radiator formed from triangular shaped threads on at least a portion of the tube. A piston on the bolt and can have a plurality of rings including pairs of mating rings that are formed and maintained as a matched pair.

A gun sight assembly includes a housing with an inner bore and a sleeve. The sleeve has an axial cavity in which a luminescent source may be housed. The sleeve is press-fit into the bore such that complementary engagement features of the bore and the sleeve engage each other to lock the sleeve in place within the bore. In one version, the sleeve can be first received within an adapter configured for press-fit into the bore of the gun sight blank.

An improved clarity sighting system; the improved clarity sighting system includes a collection of front and rear firearm sights, and a gauge tool having mock front and rear sights representing each of the genuine front and rear sights. The gauge tool simulates sight pictures formed by the alignment of the mock front and rear sights. Each of the mock-front-sights corresponds to and replicates the size and shape one of the genuine front-sights, and each of the mock-rear-sights corresponds to and replicates the size and shape of one of the genuine rear-sights. In this way, a user may visually determine which combination of each of the plurality of front-sights and each of plurality of rear-sights matches the user's vision. Each of the genuine front and rear sights are enlarged and are tapered on each face towards the muzzle of then firearm in order to enhance clarity.
