Systems and methods for non-lethal, near-range detainment of subjects
A near-range launcher assembly for at least temporarily detaining a subject includes a primary launcher carrying a first projectile, the first projectile including a pair of pellets and a tether connecting the pellets. A secondary launcher is coupled to the primary launcher, the secondary launcher carrying a second projectile. At least one power source is associated with one or both of the primary and secondary launchers. At least one control system is operable to activate the power source. At least one user input is operable to communicate with the control system to activate the at least one power source to expel one or both of the first projectile and the second projectile from the launchers toward the subject. Each of the primary launcher and the secondary launcher carry an independent power source, such that each of the primary and secondary launchers can be independently initiated by a user.

Entangling Projectiles and Systems for their Use
An entangling projectile for use with a projectile deployment system includes a pair of pellets. At least one of the pair of pellets has a head with a head outer diameter and a shank with a shank outer diameter, the shank outer diameter being less than the head outer diameter. A tether connects the pair of pellets. A centering shroud is carried by a shank of the at least one of the pair of pellets. The centering shroud has at least one tether opening formed therein to receive the tether. The tether is coupled to the pellet and extends along the shank of the pellet and through the at least one tether opening formed in the centering shroud.
Projectile Launching Systems with Anchors having Dissimilar Flight Characteristics
A projectile deployment system includes a projectile casing having a pair of sockets, each socket sized to carry one of a pair of anchors of an entangling projectile having a tether connecting the pair of anchors. A pair of independently activable pressure sources are each capable of generating a pressure wave capable of expelling one of the anchors from one of the sockets to deploy the entangling projectile from the projectile casing toward a subject. At least one controller is operable to activate one or both of the pressure sources. Each pressure source is independently activatable at differing times so as to deploy the anchors from the projectile casing at differing times.
Protective coverings and related methods for entangling projectiles
A grappling assembly is provided for use with an entangling projectile. The grappling assembly includes at least one hook including an apex portion and a sharpened prong extending distally from the apex portion. A protective cover is carried adjacent the apex portion of the at least one hook. The protective cover includes at least one substantially planar surface. The protective cover is positioned relative to the at least one hook such that the sharpened prong of the at least one hook extends distally from the protective cover and thereby remains exposed while the protective cover is carried adjacent the apex portion of the at least one hook.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROVIDING A COCKLEBUR NET IN A PROJECTILE MODULE
A projectile component that can be removably attached to a flying vehicle is disclosed. The projectile component includes a net configured in the projectile component, a receiving cavity configured in the projectile component, and a weight attached to the net via a string. The weight can be configured in the receiving cavity in preparation for firing the net from the projectile component. In order to entangle a target flying vehicle in the net, a cocklebur associated with the weight is included. Upon firing the net from the projectile component, and upon the net engaging with a target device, the cocklebur becomes entangled with the net to secure the target flying vehicle. A drawstring structure associated with the net can also be used to ensure that the net envelops and captures the target flying vehicle.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROVIDING A PROJECTILE MODULE HAVING A NET WITH A DRAWSTRING
A projectile cartridge that can be removably attached to a flying vehicle is disclosed. A system can include a first flying vehicle, a projectile attachment mechanism configured with the first flying vehicle, a projectile cartridge that contains a projectile, the projectile cartridge being removably attachable to the projectile attachment mechanism, a weight attached to the projectile, the weight being configured in a releasable configuration in the projectile cartridge and a drawstring configured with the projectile. After firing the projectile, when tension is applied to the drawstring as the projectile approaches or envelops a second flying vehicle, the tension can cause the drawstring to close the projectile down to secure the second flying vehicle.
Entangling projectiles and systems for their use
An entangling projectile for use with a projectile deployment system includes a pair of pellets, at least one of the pair of pellets having a head with a head outer diameter and a shank with a shank outer diameter, the shank outer diameter being less than the head outer diameter. A tether connects the pair of pellets. A shroud is fitted about a shank of the at least one of the pair of pellets, the shroud having a tether opening formed therein to receive the tether, the tether being coupled to the pellet and extending along the shank of the pellet and through the tether opening formed in the shroud.
Adhesive-carrying Entangling Projectiles and Systems for their Use
An entangling projectile includes a pair of pellets and a tether connecting the pellets. The pellets each have a head portion and a tail portion. At least one gasket is carried by the head portion of at least one of the pellets. The gasket is operable to provide a sealed interface between the head portion of the at least one pellet and a socket within which the at least one pellet is fired from a launcher.
Restraining device
A non-lethal restraining device includes an extendable restraining strap retained within a device body until deployed, when the extendable restraining strap is then looped over a person. A biasing element allows the extendable restraining strap to be tightened once it has been fully deployed and looped around a person's body to restrict the person's movement. When the extendable strap is tightened around the person's body, the device provides control points to direct and manipulate the person safely.
