A multipurpose shooting platform target and stand devised for use in training with large caliber, high, and hyper velocity weaponry includes a target plate dependable from a frame member by hooked engagement between a cylindrical member and a rearward mount. The rearward mount is disposed upon a reverse surface of the target plate. Engagement with the cylindrical member of the frame member effects orientation of the target plate under the influence of gravity to rest at an acute angle relative an underlying surface. Impact of ballistics against an obverse surface of the target plate effects movement of a lowermost edge of the target plate rearwards, and impacted rounds are readily deflected in controlled trajectories downwards towards the underlying surface without danger of ricochet in unpredictable patterns. Swing of the target plate signals impact of the obverse surface to a shooter.

AUTOMATED TARGET SYSTEM

Example systems, devices, and methods related to an automated target system are provided. In this regard, a target pod device, that may be installed in a target base is provided. The target pod device may include a hinge, a target paddle, a rotary actuator, a sensor, and a processor. The target paddle may be operably coupled to the hinge and the rotary actuator may be operably coupled to the target paddle. The rotary actuator may be configured to rotate the target paddle to a deployed position or a retracted position. The sensor may detect that the target paddle has been moved toward the retracted position. The processor may be configured to transmit a signal to the rotary actuator to cause the rotary actuator to rotate the target paddle, and determine whether the target paddle has been moved toward the retracted position by a projectile.

The target plate slides rearward and up the incline of the angled strut member when struck by a projectile.

A target mounting system that includes a target having opposing tangs arranged near a bottom of the target. A cylindrical pivot disk is mounted on each tang. The pivot disk/tang combinations are arranged in the recesses of the pivot disk retaining portions of opposing pivot disk bracket assemblies that are mounted on a target channel of a target system, thereby mounting the target on said target channel. When the target is mounted on the target channel between the first pivot disk bracket assembly and second pivot disk bracket assembly, the target is rotatable between a target ready position and a target down position.
