An igniter includes a first ignition charge, a first member which has a predetermined inner surface and a second member. The second member is arranged in a state of being inserted into the first member and which has a predetermined outer surface opposed to the predetermined inner surface in an arrangement state, for forming a predetermined space to arrange the first ignition charge between the predetermined inner surface and the predetermined outer surface. When the second member is rotated with respect to the first member, then the first ignition charge is ignited in the predetermined space by means of a predetermined pressure including a shear force generated between the predetermined outer surface and the predetermined inner surface in accordance with the rotation, and a combustion product of the first ignition charge is released from an opening of the predetermined space. Accordingly, preferable ignition of the ignition charge is realized.

SMART INITIATOR ASSEMBLY

According to various implementations, a vehicle pyrotechnic initiator assembly includes an initiator that includes at least one electrode pin and a validation device in electrical communication with the at least one electrode pin. The validation device provides validation information about at least a portion of the initiator assembly and/or a safety device in which the initiator assembly is installed. The validation information may include a date associated with an expiration of the initiator assembly and/or the safety device. The validation information may also or alternatively include a manufacturer identity associated with a manufacturer of the initiator assembly and/or safety device. In some implementations, the validation device includes an electrical circuit and/or memory that stores the validation information. For example, the validation device may include an ASIC chip.

A low-cost, reliable and easy to use kit for neutralizing surface exposed landmine and unexploded ordnance for humanitarian demining is based on a liquid fuel and a solid/soluble fuel. Both fuels are premeasured in separate, sealed containers. The addition of a small quantity of solid/soluble fuel into the liquid creates an explosive. The resulting mixture is capable of detonating with a standard No. 8 blasting cap. The solid/soluble fuel can be in the form of a powder, tablet, or its saturated solution in water. The solid/soluble fuel is hexamethylenetetramine. The liquid fuel, nitromethane, is provided in premeasured quantities. User is provided instructions for choosing the appropriate quantity of liquid fuel, the corresponding solid/soluble fuel required, the method of mixing, placement and detonation of the kits. Also disclosed is a simple wooden stand to hold the bottle of explosive in place. A special fuel, liquid 2-ethylhexylnitrate, is provided to desensitize the mixed and sensitized explosive.

A chip slapper is presented, having a substrate, a conductive layer disposed above the substrate face, and an intermediate layer disposed between the substrate face and the conductive layer. The conductive layer and intermediate layer form a first land and a second land atop the substrate face, with a bridge formed of the intermediate layer spanning between the first land and the second land. A first adhesion portion is attached to the first land, and a second adhesion portion is attached to the second land, wherein at least a portion of the bridge is not overlaid by the first adhesion portion or the second adhesion portion.
