System and method for reconstruction of explosion blast and blast loading on humans using pressure sensor data

A system for reconstruction of an explosion blast loading on a subject can include at least two pressure sensors and a computing system configured to: receive sensor data from the at least two pressure sensors, the sensor data being generated in response to an explosion blast wave; compute an explosion location and explosive charge mass of an explosive that caused the explosion blast wave based on the sensor data; and compute explosion blast loading on a subject from the explosion location and explosive charge mass. The pressure sensors can be configured as wearable pressure sensors or on equipment. The computing of the explosion location and explosive charge mass includes processing the sensor data through an inverse problem solver (IPS); and/or the computing of the explosion blast loading on the subject includes simulating the explosion blast wave with a forward problem solver (FPS).

Flexible anti-personnel mine

An anti-personnel mine that is flexible for manipulation in the field to accommodate missions by changing the shape of the C-4. The mine includes M112 seated in and adhered to a flexible housing having a rear involute wall. The involute wall includes a set of projecting folded pair of inclined walls that are about equidistant between a pair of inclined end walls. The inclined walls partitions most, but not all of the thickness of the M112 into segments that are tapered and accommodate the inclined walls. A metal spine, which may be shaped, is adhered to the front surface of the M112. Fragmentation elements and a bottom side of an elastic membrane are adhered to the spine and the front surface of the M112.

An area denial system may be operationally placed with communication latency compensation. The area denial system may include a plurality of munitions, one or more sensor devices, and a command and control unit, networked together and having a command and control latency for communication between the command and control unit and the remainder of the area denial system. Latency compensation may include determining a first target position, determining a first predicted position area for the target using the command and control latency and the first target position, receiving an authorization to arm one or more of the munitions, determining a second target position, and determining that the second target position is outside a threshold distance from a first authorized munition of the one or more authorized munitions, and in response, de-authorizing the first authorized munition.

Microbial passivation of explosive ordnance

A number of devices and methods for biopassivating explosive ordnance are disclosed. In some embodiments, a biopassivation reactor device is used to render energetic material in an explosive ordnance less explosive and/or non-explosive. This can be done by coupling the biopassivation reactor device to the fuse opening of the explosive ordnance. This can also be done by incorporating the biopassivation reactor device into the explosive ordnance at the time of manufacture. The biopassivation reactor device can include a housing enclosing microorganisms, water, additives, and/or the like. In some embodiments, an entire ordnance magazine can be operated as a bioreactor to passivate the explosive ordnance inside.
