Ammunition component and method of forming same
A grinding/polishing unit operation for rendering a mirror finish and precise tolerance to the base of an ammunition article. A diamond wheel is used in a live tooling operation where the diamond wheel has a mating profile to the base to be ground/polished. Bases can be prepared from bar stock or pre-existing bases can be treated to enhance magazine loading ease, ejection ease post firing and a reduction in the tendency for spent propellant residue from accreting on the bases. Several embodiments for the unit operation are disclosed.

Method of manufacturing a cartridge case
A method of manufacturing cartridge cases, wherein the method comprises fabricating a plurality of substantially identically sized and shaped unmarked inventory cases suitable for use in manufacturing a plurality of different caliber cartridges and selecting a number of the plurality of the unmarked inventory cases to be used to manufacturing a selected one of the plurality different caliber cartridges. The method further comprises inscribing, via a laser inscription device, the selected number of unmarked inventory cases to identify at least the selected one of the plurality of different caliber cartridges the selected number of unmarked inventory cases are to be used to manufacture.

Ammunition case mouth sealing system and related method
An ammunition sealing system includes a case hanging rail for holding a row of cases and one or more heating elements in close proximity to the row of cases. The one or more heating elements are configured to heat sealant applied inside the case mouths. The one or more heating elements are one or more induction heating elements or microwave heating elements.
Method of making a colored projectile
A method of making a colored projectile is disclosed, as well as the projectile made thereby. In an embodiment, the method comprises mechanically plating a colored metal, typically in powdered form, onto the surface of a projectile, such as a frangible, copper-based bullet, a full metal jacket bullet or a total metal jacket bullet. The disclosed plating process imparts a uniform, desired color to the surface of the plated projectile.
