The present invention provides a device and method for improved, repeatable, consistent, rapid, and accurate measurements of a bullet using a dial indicator. The bullet comparator of the present invention consists of a fixture block having a V-shaped groove running along a long axis of the block and a dial indicator coupled to one end of the fixture, configured so its probe operably moves toward the center of the fixture. A stop block adjustably positions in the V-shaped grove of the fixture. And, at least one floating chamber selectively positions in the V-shaped grove of the fixture. The floating chamber is a cylindrical body defining an interior chamber; the interior chamber has a first ring-contact and at least a second ring-contact on an interior portion of the chamber.

A simple ammunition casing resizer helps eliminate the problem of the casing becoming frictionally stuck with the resizing die. The ammunition casing resizer is a table top secured base that has a die plate located above the base with the resizing die removably secured within the die plate. A resizing frame reciprocates in up and down fashion under the guidance of either a manually controlled handle or an electrical motor. A ram is positioned below the resizing die while a push rod is positioned above the die such that the ram and push rod, each attached to the frame, travel in up and down reciprocating lockstep. As the ram travels upwardly, the ram presses a casing into the die for resizing and as the ram travels downwardly, the push rod passes through the top of the die and into the interior of the casing, pushing the casing out of the die.

Each casing has an exterior surface and a recessed region extending inward from the exterior surface. Each recessed region has a depth and a diameter. The at least one laser is configured to project first and second laser lines onto the recessed region of each casing along the corresponding diameter of each casing. The at least one camera is configured to capture a set of images of the first and second laser lines on the recessed region of each casing. The controller is programmed to estimate a magnitude of each diameter of each recessed region based on a corresponding set of images of the first and second laser lines on a corresponding recessed region of each casing.
