ACTIVATING A FUSE
According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided a communication system for communicating between a ranged weapon and a projectile for that ranged weapon, the system comprising: a transmitter associated with the ranged weapon, the transmitter being arranged to encode data to be transmitted to the projectile on an electromagnetic carrier wave, and to transmit that electromagnetic carrier wave to the projectile; a receiver associated with the projectile, the receiver being arranged to receive the electromagnetic carrier wave, and to decode data encoded in the electromagnetic carrier wave to retrieve that data, the data being usable in the activation of a fuse of the projectile.

Fuse system for a projectile for a ranged weapon, the fuse system comprising: a plurality of magnetic field sensors, each sensor being arranged to provide a signal that changes in response to a relative change in position and/or orientation between the system and the Earth's magnetic field, and wherein each sensor has a different alignment in terms of magnetic field sensitivity, and a controller arranged to receive one or more signals from the plurality of magnetic field sensors, and to activate a fuse of the projectile depending on the received one or more signals.

ESTABLISHING A TIME ZERO FOR TIME DELAY DETONATION
The system and method for accurately determining range-to-go for a time-delayed command detonation of a projectile. Using dual laser and/or radio frequency detectors on the tail and on the nose of a spinning projectile to determine the range-to-go, time-to-go, and/or lateral offset from the projectile to the target. A time to detonation clock is used to determine when a projectile transitions from an exterior to an interior of a structure such that the projectile can more accurately detonate within a fixed structure.
Variable range terminal kinetic energy limiting non-lethal projectile
A non-lethal projectile comprises a carrier with a deployable payload to allow for effective performance at both long and short ranges. The non-lethal projectile is fired from a launcher. At a predetermined range, the carrier opens thereby deploying the payload. The payload may further comprise a drogue chute to reduce the kinetic energy of the payload to a non-lethal level. Alternatively, the inherent drag coefficient of the payload may enable sufficient reduction of kinetic energy without the need for a drogue chute. The deployed petals of the carrier serve as drag surfaces for the carrier, thereby reducing the kinetic energy of the carrier to a non-lethal level.
