Thermal trigger with an integrated out-of-line lockout device for a thermally-initiated ventilation system or other system
09696125 · 2017-07-04 · ·

A device includes a thermal trigger having a firing pin, where the thermal trigger is configured to move the firing pin in response to an elevated temperature. The device also includes an out-of-line lockout device configured to disarm the thermal trigger in response to acceleration of the lockout device. The lockout device is configured to move a first lockout ball into a notch of the firing pin to disarm the thermal trigger. The lockout device could include an inertial mass configured to move the first lockout ball into the notch of the firing pin and a first spring configured to bias the inertial mass in an initial position. The lockout device could also include a second lockout ball configured to move into a position that prevents the inertial mass from returning to the initial position or a dampener configured to slow movement of the inertial mass.

Dual safety fuze for grenade

A hand grenade fuze includes a secondary safety feature in the form of a trigger pin inserted through the striker lever. One end of the trigger pin has an undercut portion. A slide bar is disposed in the fuze body and has a keyhole opening at one end for selectively engaging the undercut portion of the trigger pin. A trigger has one end connected to the slide bar and another end rotatably fixed to the fuze body. A spring biases the trigger away from the fuze body. When the trigger is depressed, the slide bar translates and releases the trigger pin, which releases the restraint on the striker lever.

Flash bang grenade hook and method of use

A hook for deploying a pin-and-lever detonation device, such as a flash bang grenade, and a method for use of the hook, is disclosed. The hook includes a base for attaching the hook to the side of a firearm, such as at a hand guard, grip, body, or accessory rail. It further includes an arm extending substantially laterally from the base. A recess is defined between the base and the arm, structured to receive a pull-ring of the pin-and-lever detonation device and provide leverage for a user pulling the pull-ring. A lip is formed at an end of the arm, structured to curve away from the arm and guide a pull-ring of the pin-and-lever detonation device into the recess. The disclosed hook enables an operator to deploy a grenade one-handed while simultaneously keeping his firearm readily available and covering his own person.
