A scroll compressor includes an orbiting scroll including an end plate and a spiral element on the end plate, a fixed scroll including an end plate and a spiral element on the end plate, and an Oldham ring including a support. The scroll compressor satisfies a relation of 1>2, where 1 denotes each of the axial length of a gap between the tip of the spiral element of the orbiting scroll and the end plate of the fixed scroll and a gap between the tip of the spiral element of the fixed scroll and the end plate of the orbiting scroll, and 2 denotes the axial length of a gap between the end plate of the orbiting scroll and the support of the Oldham ring.
Scroll compressor having Oldham coupling with key portions and different width key gaps
A scroll compressor includes a movable scroll having first key grooves, a stationary member having second key grooves, and an Oldham coupling provided between the movable scroll and the stationary member. The Oldham coupling is movable with respect to the stationary member along a first axis direction, and with respect to the movable scroll along a second axis direction. The second axis is orthogonal to the first axis and passes through a center of gravity of the Oldham coupling. The Oldham coupling has an annular body portion, at least two first key portions fitted into the first key grooves, and second key portions fitted into the second key grooves. Key gaps are formed between outer peripheral surfaces of the first key portions and inner peripheral surfaces of the first key grooves. The key gaps have first gaps and second gaps wider than the first gaps.
Oil flow through the bearings of a scroll compressor
A compressor according to the principles of the present disclosure includes a shell, a compression mechanism, a driveshaft, a drive bearing cavity, and a drive bearing. The compression mechanism is disposed within the shell and includes an orbiting scroll member and a non-orbiting scroll member. The orbiting scroll member includes a baseplate and a tubular portion extending axially from the baseplate. The driveshaft is drivingly engaged with the orbiting scroll member. The drive bearing cavity is disposed between an outer radial surface of the driveshaft and an inner radial surface of the tubular portion of the orbiting scroll member. The baseplate of the orbiting scroll member defines a first discharge passage in fluid communication with the drive bearing cavity. The drive bearing is disposed in the drive bearing cavity and is disposed about the driveshaft adjacent to the first end of the driveshaft.

COMPRESSOR
Disclosed is a scroll type compressor having an Oldham's ring having an asymmetrical structure with respect to a long or minor axis thereof.
Scroll-type machine
A scroll-type displacement machine, e.g. scroll compressor, has fixed and orbiting scrolls and an Oldham ring to prevent relative rotation between scrolls. A drive module positioned between the orbiting scroll and drive shaft incorporates an eccentric drive system and first and second counterweights for dynamic balancing. The motor, motor bearings, and motor shaft (i.e., drive shaft) are packaged as a separate, modular unit (e.g. off-the-shelf motor) that attaches to the compressor frame. The machine is configured as a high-side machine with a low-pressure port at a radial outer portion of the fixed scroll and a high-pressure port or discharge port located in the floor of the orbiting scroll at its axis, with high pressure flow passing over and around the eccentric drive bearing and drive mechanism. The Oldham ring is distributed on a lateral or radial plane of the scroll pair with a portion surrounding a portion of the fixed scroll and another portion surrounding a portion of the orbiting scroll. The ring may be formed as four arcuate members arranged on two levels, to occupy otherwise unused space in the scroll-type machine.
COMPRESSOR
A compressor includes a rotation shaft, a drive unit, and a compression unit. The compression unit includes a fixed scroll, an orbiting scroll, a main frame that is disposed on the fixed scroll, and an Oldham's ring coupled to the orbiting scroll and the main frame and configured to restrict rotation of the orbiting scroll. The Oldham's ring includes a ring body disposed between the orbiting scroll and the main frame, keys that protrude from the ring body that are each coupled to the orbiting scroll or the main frame, and caps that are inserted into the main frame and that each have (i) a coupling hole that receives a key among the keys and (ii) a machined portion that faces the coupling hole and that is spaced apart from at least a portion of an outer surface of the key.
