Turbine

A turbine includes a shaft configured to rotate about a rotor axis; a pair of rotating blade rows, the pair of rotating blade rows including a pair of disks that extend radially outward from the shaft and are disposed at an interval in a direction of the rotor axis, each one of the pair of rotating blade rows including a plurality of rotating blades arranged in a circumferential direction on an outer peripheral end of the disk; and a pair of stator vane rows disposed in a one-to-one manner on a first side of the pair of rotating blade rows in the direction of the rotor axis, each one of the pair of stator vane rows including a plurality of stator vanes arranged in the circumferential direction, wherein a number of the rotating blades on each one of the pair of rotating blade rows is the same, and a number of the stator vanes on each one of the pair of stator vane rows is the same.

Turbine section of high bypass turbofan

A turbofan engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a fan including a circumferential array of fan blades, a compressor in fluid communication with the fan, the compressor including a low pressure compressor section and a high pressure compressor section, the low pressure compressor section including a low pressure compressor section inlet with a low pressure compressor section inlet annulus area, a fan duct including a fan duct annulus area outboard of the a low pressure compressor section inlet, a turbine in fluid communication with the combustor, the turbine having a high pressure turbine section and a low pressure turbine that drives the fan, a speed reduction mechanism coupled to the fan and rotatable by the low pressure turbine section to allow the low pressure turbine section to turn faster than the fan, wherein the low pressure turbine section includes a maximum gas path radius and the fan blades include a maximum radius, and a ratio of the maximum gas path radius to the maximum radius of the fan blades is between 0.50 and 0.55, or is greater than 0.55 and less than or equal to 0.65.

Turbine section of high bypass turbofan

A turbofan engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a fan including a circumferential array of fan blades, a compressor in fluid communication with the fan, the compressor including a low pressure compressor section and a high pressure compressor section, the low pressure compressor section including a low pressure compressor section inlet with a low pressure compressor section inlet annulus area, a fan duct including a fan duct annulus area outboard of the a low pressure compressor section inlet, a turbine in fluid communication with the combustor, the turbine having a high pressure turbine section and a low pressure turbine that drives the fan, a speed reduction mechanism coupled to the fan and rotatable by the low pressure turbine section to allow the low pressure turbine section to turn faster than the fan, wherein the low pressure turbine section includes a maximum gas path radius and the fan blades include a maximum radius, and a ratio of the maximum gas path radius to the maximum radius of the fan blades is between 0.50 and 0.55, or is greater than 0.55 and less than or equal to 0.65.

Embedded electric machine

A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section and a turbine section. A first spool is rotatable with a first turbine of the turbine section and a first compressor of the compressor section. Additionally, a second spool is rotatable with a second turbine of the turbine section and a second compressor of the compressor section. An electric machine is positioned at least partially inward of the core air flowpath of the gas turbine engine along a radial direction of the gas turbine engine. Additionally, the exemplary gas turbine engine includes a gear assembly mechanically coupled to both the first spool and the second spool, such that the first and second spools may each drive the electric machine.

Embedded electric machine

A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section and a turbine section. A first spool is rotatable with a first turbine of the turbine section and a first compressor of the compressor section. Additionally, a second spool is rotatable with a second turbine of the turbine section and a second compressor of the compressor section. An electric machine is positioned at least partially inward of the core air flowpath of the gas turbine engine along a radial direction of the gas turbine engine. Additionally, the exemplary gas turbine engine includes a gear assembly mechanically coupled to both the first spool and the second spool, such that the first and second spools may each drive the electric machine.

A disclosed gas turbine engine includes a gas generator section for generating a gas stream flow and a propulsor section for generating propulsive thrust as a mass flow rate of air through a bypass flow path. The propulsor section includes a fan driven by a power turbine through a speed reduction device at a second rotational speed lower than a first rotational speed of the power turbine. An Engine Unit Thrust Parameter (“EUTP”) defined as net engine thrust divided by a product of the mass flow rate of air through the bypass flow path, a tip diameter of the fan and the first rotational speed of the power turbine is between 0.05 and 0.13 during operation of the gas turbine engine.

An Engine Unit Thrust Parameter (“EUTP”) defined as net engine thrust divided by a product of the mass flow rate of air through the bypass flow path, a tip diameter of the fan and the first rotational speed of the power turbine is between 0.05 and 0.13 during operation of the gas turbine engine.

Geared architecture for high speed and small volume fan drive turbine

A turbofan engine includes a fan section that drives air along a bypass flow path in a bypass duct. An epicyclic gear system in driving engagement with the fan shaft and has a gear mesh lateral stiffness and a gear mesh transverse stiffness. A gear system input to the gear system defines a gear system input lateral stiffness and a gear system input transverse stiffness. The gear system input lateral stiffness is less than 5% of the gear mesh lateral stiffness. A first performance quantity is defined as the product of a first speed squared and a first area and a second performance quantity is defined as the product of a second speed squared and a second area. A performance quantity ratio of a first performance quantity to a second performance quantity is between 0.5 and 1.5.

BLADED DISC

A bladed disc system for a turbine engine having a disk portion and a plurality of blade portions which are associated with a stator section and an intercavity sealing portion, disc portion shaped such that blade portions are able to fit within firtree slot in disc portion, blade portion having aerofoil section and root section, aerofoil section having portion shaped such that they extend proximate to intercavity sealing portion, disc portion extending from portion that connects with drum to outer edge at which blade portions are connected with disc portion having width transition region in which thickness of disc increases from point at which disc connects to drum to outer edge at which it holds blade portions, and wherein width transition region has curved width transition region with radius r, and an overhanging portion which extends into the intercavity spacing between the width transition region and the intercavity sealing portion.
