Reversible blade rotor seal with protrusions

A sealing structure for a gas turbine engine includes a rotor that has a rim with slots and a cooling passage. The rotor is rotatable about an axis. First and second blades are arranged in the slots and respectively including first and second shelves facing one another within a pocket that is in fluid communication with the cooling passage. The first and second shelves form an opening. A reversible seal is arranged within the pocket and has a body that is configured for operative association with the first and second blades in any of four orientations to seal the opening in a second condition. The seal includes first and second protrusions respectively extending from first and second faces opposing one another. The first protrusions supported on the rim in a first condition.

Optical measurement system for detecting turbine blade lockup

An optical measurement system for detecting at least one locked blade assembly in a gas turbine. The system includes at least one light source for emitting light that impinges on a blade surface of each blade in a row of blade assemblies. The system also includes a video device for imaging the blades as the blades rotate about the center axis. Further, the system includes a controller for controlling operation of the light source and video device. The controller detects a pixel intensity associated with each blade and a spacing between each pixel intensity wherein a change in spacing between consecutive pixel intensities indicates that a distance between consecutive blades has changed relative to the first distance thereby indicating at least one locked blade assembly.

The present invention relates to a rotating blade (5), in particular for a compressor or turbine stage of a gas turbine, having a radially outer rib arrangement with at least one rib (2), onto which a coating (3) is disposed, whereby, in a meridian section, the coating (3) has an outer contour (3.1), which extends axially outwardly in the radial direction.

Recessable damper for turbine

A turbine blade damping system for a turbine includes a turbine blade platform and a damper recessable within a pocket defined by the platform. An underside of the platform defines a beveled surface. An outer side of the damper defines a complementary beveled surface. When the turbine spools up, centrifugal force acting on the damper forces it in an outward direction from the pocket toward a mating surface of an adjacent turbine blade platform.
