CMC component attachment pin
A flow path component assembly includes a carrier that has at least one radially extending tab. A flow path component has a base portion and a first wall that extends radially from the base portion. The first wall has an aperture. A pin extends through a hole in the radially extending tab and the aperture. The pin has an ellipsoid portion between a first end and a second end.
BLADE RETENTION FEATURES FOR TURBOMACHINES
A turbomachine includes a rotatable annular outer drum rotor connected to a first plurality of blades. Each of the first plurality of blades includes a blade root portion secured to the rotatable annular outer drum rotor. Each of the blade root portions includes one or more structural radial retention features for radially retaining each of the blade root portions within the rotatable annular outer drum and one or more axial retention features for axially retaining each of the blade root portions within the rotatable annular outer drum.
METHOD FOR REPLACING METAL AIRFOIL WITH CERAMIC AIRFOIL, AND RELATED TURBOMACHINE BLADE
A method may include: in a used metal turbomachine blade including a root including a shank, a platform coupled to the shank and an airfoil coupled to the platform, removing the airfoil, leaving a remaining base including the platform, the shank and the root. The method may also form a radially extending opening through the platform into the shank, and insert a ceramic shank nub extending from a ceramic airfoil into the radially extending opening of the remaining base. The ceramic airfoil is fixedly attached to the remaining base. The method allows reuse of the metal shank while providing the lower cooling requirements of a ceramic airfoil.
Apparatus for axial locking of bucket and bucket assembly and gas turbine having the same
An apparatus for axial locking of a bucket includes a depressed portion formed on an end portion of a male dovetail extending from a bucket and on an outer side of a seating groove of a female dovetail disposed on an outer circumferential surface of a rotor disk, and a locking member disposed in the depressed portion and configured to contact the male dovetail and the seating groove of the female dovetail to prevent the bucket mounted on the rotor disk from being separated in the axial direction.

Composite airfoil assembly for an interdigitated rotor
Rotor assemblies and methods for manufacturing airfoils for rotor assemblies are provided. For example, a rotor assembly comprises a rotary structure extending circumferentially about an axial centerline of a gas turbine engine and an airfoil having a root and a tip. The root is coupled to the rotary structure and has a bulbous shape. The airfoil is formed from a plurality of composite plies, a portion of which defines at the root first and second end surfaces, which are in contact with the rotary structure and together define a chisel-shaped end of the root. In another embodiment, a rotor assembly comprises an outer rotor extending circumferentially about an axial centerline of a gas turbine engine and a composite outer rotor blade having a root and a tip. The blade root is coupled to the outer rotor and extends inward along a radial direction toward the axial centerline.
Turbine wheel assembly with pinned ceramic matrix composite blades
A wheel assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a disk, a blade-attachment system, and a plurality of blades. The disk is configured to rotate about an axis during operation of the gas turbine engine. The blade-attachment system is configured to couple the plurality of blades with the disk for rotation therewith.
Turbine wheel assembly
The present disclosure is related to turbine wheel assemblies for gas turbine engines. Such turbine wheel assemblies may include ceramic matrix composite airfoil components mounted with different types of coupling to a central disc.
Machining system for turbomachine dovetail
Various embodiments include a system for machining a hole in a turbine blade. The system can include: a mount for engaging a first side of a turbine rotor, the mount including: a drill plate for coupling with the first side of the turbine rotor, the drill plate having: a body; a feed opening on a first side of the body; a passage extending from the feed opening through the body; and a second opening on a second side of the body, the second opening coupled with the passage and positioned to align with the pre-formed hole in the turbine rotor; an alignment bushing for engaging the pre-formed hole in the rotor at a second side of the rotor; and a cutting device for extending through the body and alignment bushing, the cutting device for machining the hole in the blade, the cutting device aligned along a chamfer axis relative to a primary axis of the turbine rotor.
