Multi-Mode Combined Cycle Propulsion Engine
A turbojet engine capable of operation in an Air Turbo Rocket (ATR) mode includes a compressor, a rotatable turbine wheel comprising turbine blades, a non-rotating guide vane ring comprising guide vanes, a turbine shaft configured to power said compressor, a combustor, a gas generator, and a main combustor. The main combustor is configured to combust hot, fuel rich gas from the gas generator in air compressed by the compressor. Hot, fuel rich gas from the gas generator is directed towards the turbine blades by a directing means.
TURBINE BLADE WITH BOOMERANG SHAPED WALL COOLING PASSAGES
A turbine component includes a body having a pair of spaced walls, with at least one of the walls for facing a fluid flow when mounted in a gas turbine engine. There are a plurality of wall cooling passages having a generally boomerang shape such that a peak apex is spaced from the wall and an indent apex is adjacent to the wall, with the plurality of wall cooling passages having interior sides extending from the peak apex toward the wall to define a corner. Outer sides extend from the corners with a component away from the wall and to the indent apex. A gas turbine engine is also disclosed.
Inducer assembly for a turbine engine
A turbine engine having an inducer assembly. The inducer assembly includes a centrifugal separator fluidly coupled to an inducer with an inducer inlet and an inducer outlet. The centrifugal separator includes a body, an angular velocity increaser to form a concentrated-particle stream and a reduced-particle stream, a flow splitter, and an exit conduit fluidly coupled to the body to receive the reduced-particle stream and define a separator outlet.
Energy beam positioning during formation of a cooling aperture
A manufacturing method is provided during which a preform component for a turbine engine is provided. A cooling aperture is formed in the preform component. The cooling aperture includes a centerline, an inlet and an outlet. The cooling aperture extends longitudinally along the centerline through a wall of the preform component from the inlet to the outlet. The forming of the cooling aperture includes forming a first portion of the cooling aperture using a machining tool implement with a first toolpath that is angularly offset from the centerline by a first angle between thirty-five degrees and ninety degrees.
HEAT EXCHANGER INTEGRATION
A front centre body (FCB) structure for a geared turbofan engine comprises a plurality of vanes extending across the inlet duct to a low pressure compressor and integrates a heat exchanging arrangement to control the temperature of the gearbox of the turbofan engine.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION FOR AN ELECTRIC MACHINE IN AN AIRCRAFT TURBOMACHINE
An aircraft turbine engine includes a gas generator having a longitudinal axis (A), a fan located at an upstream end of the gas generator and configured to turn about said axis, and an electric machine of generally annular shape. The electric machine is coaxially mounted downstream of the fan and has a rotor coupled to rotate with the fan. The electric machine further includes a stator connected to an electronic power circuit by at least one rigid electrically-conductive bar.
TURBINE BLADE
A turbine blade is provided with an airfoil portion having a leading edge, a trailing edge, and a pressure surface and a suction surface which extend between the leading edge and the trailing edge, the airfoil portion internally forming a cooling passage. The cooling passage includes: a first cooling passage located closer to the pressure surface than the suction surface; and a second cooling passage located closer to the suction surface than the pressure surface. The first cooling passage and the second cooling passage are separated by a partition member disposed in the airfoil portion. At least one communication space connecting the first cooling passage and the second cooling passage is formed in the partition member.
TURBINE BLADE AND TURBINE INCLUDING THE SAME
A turbine blade having cooling holes formed therein and a turbine including the same are provided. The turbine blade includes an airfoil having a leading edge and a trailing edge formed thereon and a cooling passage defined for flow of a cooling fluid therethrough, and a cooling hole configured to communicate between the cooling passage and outside in the airfoil and having an inlet and an outlet, wherein the cooling hole includes an expanded portion and a grooved portion formed in the outlet, the grooved portion being recessed from the expanded portion toward the trailing edge.
Gas turbine engine
A gas turbine engine including: an exhaust diffuser including an inner tube and an outer tube that form therebetween an annular exhaust passage; a bearing chamber formed radially inside the inner tube for accommodating a bearing that supports a rotor of a turbine; a plurality of hollow struts extending across the exhaust passage; an oil introduction passage extending through one of the struts for introducing oil to be supplied to the bearing chamber; an oil drain passage extending through one of the struts for draining the oil from an exhaust oil inlet opened on a bottom surface of the bearing chamber; and an oil discharge passage for discharging a portion of the oil having passed through the oil introduction passage toward the oil drain inlet.
Endwall cooling scheme
An endwall assembly disposed at one end of a vane assembly may comprise an endwall spar that includes an cold side, an hot side, a leading edge, a trailing edge, and an axis extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge perpendicular to the leading edge. The endwall assembly may include a coversheet on the hot side of the endwall spar and a cooling channel that includes a cooling fluid inlet disposed in the endwall spar, and a cooling fluid outlet. The endwall assembly may include a structure protruding from the cold side of the endwall spar, wherein the structure is located between the cooling fluid inlet and the cooling fluid outlet along the axis; and a cooling fluid source cavity on the cold side of the wall, the cooling fluid source cavity in fluid communication with the cooling fluid channel via the cooling fluid inlet.
