Blade outer air seal surface
A blade outer air seal for a gas turbine engine having a surface that is eccentric with respect to the engine rotation centerline, and a method for creating same, are disclosed. Also, a method for grinding a work piece having nominal curvature defined by a work piece curvature centerline is disclosed, comprising the steps of: a) determining a desired surface profile for the work piece; b) providing a rotating grinding surface having a grinding rotation centerline; c) offsetting the grinding rotation centerline from the work piece curvature centerline; and d) applying the rotating grinding surface to the work piece while rotating the rotating grinding surface about the grinding rotation centerline to create the desired surface profile.
Turbomachine
A turbomachine is described, which includes an annular space seal for at least reducing a fluid exchange between an annular space, through which a main stream flows, and at least one cavity situated radially on the inside and/or radially on the outside of the annular space, the annular space seal having a plurality of sheet-like elastic elements, which are oriented in the radial direction of the turbomachine and in the flow direction of a main stream flowing through the particular guide blade row, and thereby acting as a protective device for the rotor and/or stator during a relative axial displacement with respect to the stator in addition to providing an improved cavity coverage.

Fire containment coating system for titanium
A coated substrate comprises: a metallic substrate; a bondcoat atop the substrate; and a ceramic barrier coat atop the bondcoat. The bondcoat has a combined content of one or more of molybdenum, chromium, and vanadium of at least 50 percent by weight.
ENGINE COMPONENT WITH ABRADABLE MATERIAL AND TREATMENT
An engine component with an abradable material and treatment is disclosed herein. An example engine component includes a substrate having a first thickness and defining at least a first substrate surface, the substrate extending along an axial direction, an abradable material on the first substrate surface, the abradable material defining a first abradable material surface, a second abradable material surface spaced radially apart from the first abradable material surface and defining a second thickness, and a treatment, the treatment extending from the first abradable material surface through at least a portion of the first thickness of the substrate.
Method for making high lubricity abradable material and abradable coating
An abradable powder composition is includes a metal component, a lubricant component, and a polymer component. A portion of the metal component is wrapped in the lubricant component to achieve high lubricity and abradability. The abradable powder composition can be used to form an abradable seal coating provided for use in a turbo machinery having a housing and a wheel having multiple blades. The housing houses the wheel which rotates therein. The seal coating is formed on the inner walls of housing adjacent where the wheel blades pass during their rotation. When the wheel is rotated such that the blades contact the seal coating, it is abraded to form a close fit gap. The abradable seal coating preferably does not produce significant wear of the blade tips or transfer abradable material significantly to the blade tips upon being abraded.
Abradable insert with lattice structure
An abradable insert for a gas turbine engine, the abradable insert including: a base layer; a lattice layer connected to the base layer, wherein the lattice layer comprises a series of walls that define a plurality of cells; and a sheet layer connected to the lattice layer on an opposite side on the lattice layer from the base layer, wherein the sheet layer is curved and includes a direction of concavity that points away from the base layer, wherein the lattice layer and the sheet layer are integrally formed together and are a monolithic piece of material.
Fan containment case
A fan case for use in a gas turbine engine of an aircraft includes an outer shroud and a liner extending along the outer shroud. The fan case provides a protective band that blocks fan blades from being thrown out of the fan case in case of a blade-off event in which a fan blade is released during operation of the gas turbine engine.
TURBOMACHINE SEALING RING
A turbomachine sealing ring has an axis of revolution and includes an annular support , an annular coating made of abradable material which is carried by the support, and an annular thermal protection plate which is carried by the support. The ring is divided into sectors and has a plurality of ring sectors disposed circumferentially next to one another about the axis. Each ring sector having has a support sector, a coating sector, and a plate sector. Each plate sector having includes a flat tab that is pressed against a face of the corresponding support sector and is fixed to this face by brazing. The tab is inserted into a through-slot in the support sector in order to improve its integrity in operation.
