Geared gas turbine engine with reduced fan noise
A fan section for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a fan rotor having fan blades, and a plurality of fan exit guide vanes positioned downstream of the fan rotor. The fan rotor is configured to be driven through a gear reduction. A ratio of a number of fan exit guide vanes to a number of fan blades is defined. The fan exit guide vanes are provided with optimized sweep and optimized lean.
Turbomachine with housing control surfaces for aligning air bearing components
A turbomachine includes a first housing member having a first journal bearing portion and a first radial control surface. The turbomachine also includes a second housing member with a second journal bearing portion and a second radial control surface. The second radial control surface has an interference fit with the first radial control surface that radially aligns the second journal bearing portion and the first journal bearing portion along a common axis.
BEARING CHAMBER HOUSING FOR A TURBOMACHINE
A bearing chamber housing for supporting a shaft of a turbomachine is provided, the bearing chamber housing including an additively built-up housing wall which bounds an oil chamber of the bearing chamber housing radially outwardly relative to an axis of rotation of the shaft, the housing wall being built up with an oil duct which has an inlet opening toward the oil chamber for admission of oil from the oil chamber into the oil duct, and which has an outlet opening for discharging the oil from the oil duct, the outlet opening being located at a different axial position and at a different circumferential position than the inlet opening, considered relative to the axis of rotation of the shaft, and the oil duct having an extent with both an axial component and a circumferential component, at least over a portion thereof.
METHOD FOR MODIFYING A SINGLE SHAFT COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT
A method for modifying an existing single shaft combined cycle power plant having a steam turbine part and a gas turbine part which are connected to each other rigidly by an intermediate shaft. The gas turbine part is supported by two pin-ended supports allowing a certain axial displacement of the casing by rotating about corresponding axes. The old gas turbine part is replaced by a new gas turbine part having a different structure, namely a rigid support and a flexible support. Relative thermal expansion or displacement of the intermediate shaft is compensated by a hydraulic unit comprising a double-acting piston for displacing the gas turbine rotor with respect to the gas turbine stator. The hydraulic unit is controlled based on a displacement measurement in the steam turbine.
TURBINE ARRANGEMENT INCORPORATING AN OIL RECOVERY CIRCUMFERENTIAL TROUGH
A turbine arrangement comprising a journal having a flange carrying a disc that is attached to the flange with bolts, wherein it includes a stationary circular trough surrounding the flange for collecting oil capable of passing radially between the disc and the flange carrying this disc.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTERNAL SPLINE LUBRICATION
An aircraft engine, has: a shaft rotatable about a central axis and engaged at an end thereof to a rotatable load via splines; a reference tube extending around the shaft and having a first end secured to the shaft and a second end free relative to the shaft for measuring a deformation of the shaft, the reference tube defining at least one tube aperture; an oil nozzle defining an exit flow axis intersecting the at least one tube aperture, the shaft defining at least one shaft aperture through the shaft, an oil flow path extending from the oil nozzle to the splines; and a drain outlet located radially outwardly of an inlet of the at least one shaft aperture for outputting excess oil out of an annular gap defined between the shaft and the reference tube.
Gas turbine engine with high speed low pressure turbine section and bearing support features
A gas turbine engine includes a very high speed low pressure turbine such that a quantity defined by the exit area of the low pressure turbine multiplied by the square of the low pressure turbine rotational speed compared to the same parameters for the high pressure turbine is at a ratio between about 0.5 and about 1.5. The high pressure turbine is supported by a bearing positioned at a point where the first shaft connects to a hub carrying turbine rotors associated with the second turbine section.
Bearing support with frangible tabs
A gas turbine engine has: an engine shaft rotatable about a rotation axis; at least two bearings spaced apart from one another along the rotation axis, the at least two bearings having inner races for rotation with the engine shaft, outer races, and rolling elements disposed radially between the inner races and the outer races; a bearing support extending axially along the rotation axis from one of the at least two bearings to the other, the bearing support secured to both of the outer races of the at least two bearings, the bearing support secured to a structural case of the gas turbine engine via frangible tabs.
TURBOCHARGER TURBINE HOUSING
A turbine housing can include a bearing housing end and a treatment unit end; a volute wall that defines a volute; a wall that defines at least a portion of a turbine wheel space that defines a turbine wheel space axis and a turbine wheel space diameter, where the wall extends to an axial peak to define an extended space with an extended space outlet having an extended space outlet dimension; and an outlet wall that defines an outlet space with a treatment unit end outlet having an outlet dimension, where the extended space is disposed at least in part axially between the turbine wheel space and the outlet space to increase axial velocity uniformity at the treatment unit end outlet.
GUIDE VANE RING FOR A TURBOMACHINE, TURBOMACHINE AND METHOD FOR MOUNTING A GUIDE VANE RING
The invention relates to a guide vane ring for a turbomachine comprising at least one guide vane, at least one bearing body, and at least two inner ring segments. The guide vane has a bearing journal that is arranged in a in form-fitting manner in a bearing bush of the at least one bearing body. The at least two inner ring segments have on their respective outer radial faces a guide channel running along a circumferential direction of the guide vane ring for receiving the bearing body, into which project at least two opposite-lying guide projections of the inner ring segments, said projections running along the circumferential direction of the guide vane ring. The bearing bodyis arranged in the guide channel of the inner ring segments, and the at least two guide projections of the inner ring segments engage in at least two guide grooves of the bearing body.
