The power transmission includes a gear mechanism with a gear ratio not greater than a predetermined value, and includes a first gear supported rotatably by the cam shaft and that rotates based on an output from the crank shaft, a second gear provided on a rotation shaft of the mechanical supercharger, and an idle gear that connects the first and second gears with each other. Cylinders are offset with respect to a center of the crank shaft on an anti-thrust side of the cylinders, and the mechanical supercharger is also offset with respect to a center of the crank shaft on the anti-thrust side. Cylinder heads are provided with oil cooling paths adjacent respective spark plugs.
Power system with internal combustion engine
A power system including a variable volume combustion chamber for a two-stroke engine having a controlled exhaust port, a fuel injector to the combustion chamber, an oxygen injector to the combustion chamber and a water injector to the combustion chamber. The fuel, oxygen and water injectors controlled by a CPU provide repeated serial pulses of fuel, oxygen and water to complete a charge. An ignition chamber receives a compressed charge then ignited by a spark plug to pass through a restricted port to the main combustion chamber. A source of pressurized concentrated oxygen to the oxygen injector is in a closed air separator having a ceramic membrane of yttrium stabilized zirconia with a synthesized double perovskite nanofiber catalyst coating.
CHECK VALVE AND INTEGRATED PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE CONTROLLED BY A METALLIC BAND
An integrated valve for a hydraulic tensioner includes a pressure relief valve with an integrated band, which is preferably made of metal, placed around the outside of a pressure relief valve body. A hydraulic tensioner includes a housing with a bore and a hollow piston slidably received within the bore. A piston spring biases the piston in a direction toward a power transmission device. The tensioner also includes an integrated check valve in a body of the housing. The integrated check valve includes a pressure relief valve mechanism and a band check valve mechanism surrounding a circumference of the pressure relief valve mechanism. The pressure relief valve mechanism permits transfer of pressurized fluid from a piston chamber formed by the hollow piston to the source of pressurized fluid and the check valve mechanism permits transfer of pressurized fluid from the source of pressurized fluid to the piston chamber.
Device for adjusting camshaft phase
A device for adjusting camshaft phase is proviced that includes a stator, a rotor and two guard caps that limit the rotor are fixedly provided at axial ends of the stator. The device further includes a belt pulley that is sleeved on the periphery of the stator and the guard caps and fixedly connected to the stator or the guard caps. An annular seal is disposed on the device and includes a first sealing portion and a second sealing portion located at axial ends. The seal body is fixedly provided between the stator, the guard caps and the belt pulley, and the annular seal encloses a sealed cavity. The stator, the rotor and the guard caps are fixedly provided in the sealed cavity.
Multilink cranktrains with combined eccentric shaft and camshaft drive system for internal combustion engines
Presented are variable compression ratio and independent compression and expansion engines, methods for making/operating such engines, and vehicles equipped with such engines. An engine assembly includes an engine block with a cylinder bore defining a combustion chamber, and a piston movable within the cylinder bore. A valve assembly, which is fluidly coupled to the combustion chamber, selectively introduces/evacuates fluid from the combustion chamber. A crankshaft is supported by the engine block and rotatable on a first axis. A multipoint linkage, which drivingly engages the piston to the crankshaft, rotates on a second axis offset from the first axis. A control shaft is supported by the engine block and rotates on a third axis offset from the first and second axes. The control shaft operable to selectively rotate the multipoint linkage on the second axis, and is operable to selectively unseat the valve assembly.
Camshaft adjusting device
The disclosure relates to a camshaft adjusting device with a dry belt, a central valve arranged within a camshaft adjuster, and an actuator acting on the central valve. An oil-tight wet space is formed by the camshaft adjuster and the actuator or a component supporting the actuator, and oil present in the wet space can be evacuated by means of an oil path. A portion of this oil path extends axially through the output element of the camshaft adjuster. This oil path can pass the end-side contact face between the output element and camshaft, opening out into an axial bore of the camshaft which is distanced radially from the axis of rotation of the camshaft adjusting device. The axial bore runs beneath an oil feed connection formed on the outer surface of the camshaft for feeding oil to the central valve.
Power Unit
A power unit for a hybrid vehicle is provided with a twin-cylinder reciprocating piston engine, which has two pistons which are guided in two cylinders in tandem arrangement. Two counter-directional crankshafts are connected with the pistons by connecting rods. At least one generator is rotatable co-directionally to the first crankshaft and counter-directionally to the second crankshaft. A camshaft with valve cams are operatively connected with control valves. A flywheel mass element is arranged on the second crankshaft or on a flywheel mass compensating shaft, and a compensating camshaft are provided. The compensating camshaft includes at least one compensating cam element which is operatively connected with a linearly guided compensating mass.
Valvetrain service tool
A valvetrain service tool for an automobile engine comprises a bracket adapted to be removably mounted onto a structural member of an engine, and a pin slidably supported within the bracket, wherein, the pin is slidable between a first position and a second position, further wherein, when the pin is moved from the first position to the second position, the pin engages a cam sprocket of the engine to support the cam sprocket and allow service to be performed to the valvetrain of the engine without removing the cam sprocket.
