Cylinder deactivation and engine brake mechanism for type III center pivot valvetrains
A rocker assembly for a type III center pivot valvetrain comprises a rocker arm comprising a cam end, a center pivot bore, and a valve end. The valve end comprises a first actuator bore and a second actuator bore. A cylinder deactivation actuator is in the first actuator bore. An engine brake actuator is in the second actuator bore. The rocker assembly can be part of a valve assembly and can impart an engine braking function, a cylinder deactivation function, and a main lift function to first and second valves. It is also possible to impart an early exhaust valve opening, a main lift function, and a late exhaust valve closing to the engine braking valve.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An internal combustion engine may include at least one cylinder, a first outlet valve and a second outlet valve for directing exhaust gas out from a combustion chamber of the at least one cylinder. The first outlet valve may include a first valve opening and a first valve body where the first valve opening is adjustable between a closed position and an open position. The second outlet valve may include a second valve opening and a second valve body where the second valve body is adjustable between a closed position and an open position. An adjusting lever may adjust one or both of the first valve body and the second valve body between the open position and the closed position.
Control Device
To provide a control device capable of calculating a cam phase equal to an actual cam angle even when a corresponding cam angle signal detection range is exceeded by changing a cam phase by a variable valve mechanism. In addition to the conventional cam angle measuring function, a cam angle measuring means for advancing or retarding beyond a cam angle measurement reference position, and a means for determining that the cam angle signal advances or retards beyond the cam angle measurement reference position are provided. By switching the cam angle measuring function according to a determination result as to whether the cam angle signal exceeds the cam angle measurement reference position, it is possible to improve the time resolution of the angle measurement while maintaining the cam phase change amount at the same wide angle as the conventional one.
Valve switching apparatus
A valve switching apparatus includes a rocker arm coming into contact with a cam to open and close a valve along with a rotation of the cam, and an eccentric generation means provided to the rocker arm so as to allow an eccentric position to be changed by rotation thereof.
VALVE GEAR FOR ENGINE
A valve gear includes a camshaft, a first cam and a second cam that drive an intake valve or an exhaust valve, and a synchronous cam that rotates in synchronism with the first and second cams. The valve gear includes a rocker shaft, a rocker arm, and a cam follower swingably supported by the rocker shaft and that comes into contact with the synchronous cam. The valve gear includes a thruster that converts the swinging motion of the cam follower into a thrust and moves the rocker arm to a first side or a second side in the axial direction. The valve gear makes the camshaft compact, and also increases the reliability of operation at high rotations and reduces an operation sound at low rotations.
Continuous variable valve lift apparatus and engine provided with the same
A continuously variable valve lift apparatus may include a camshaft, a cam portion on which a cam is formed and to which the camshaft is inserted, a slider housing to which the cam portion is rotatably inserted and is movable with respect to the camshaft, a control portion selectively changing the position of the slider housing, an output portion rotatable around a pivot shaft and to which a valve shoe is formed. The valve shoe drives a valve unit.
Internal combustion engine
An internal combustion engine includes an exhaust valve, a plurality of cams Ca, Cb, and Cc used to drive the exhaust valve, a cam-switching variable valve mechanism that selects a use cam used to drive the exhaust valve out of the plurality of cams Ca, Cb, and Cc, and an electronic control unit that determines whether switching abnormality of the use cam in the variable valve mechanism is present on the basis of a locus M in a predetermined period K which is a period in which the exhaust valve is opened. The locus M is a locus of an in-cylinder pressure changing rate dPc/dθ and is specifically a locus indicating a variation of the in-cylinder pressure changing rate dPc/dθ depending on a crank angle θ.
Two step rocker arm having side by side roller configuration
A rocker arm assembly constructed in accordance to one example of the present disclosure includes an outer rocker arm and an inner rocker arm. The outer rocker arm has a first roller configuration that rotates around a first axis. The inner rocker arm has a second roller configuration that rotates around a second axis. The inner rocker arm is configured to move between a latched and unlatched position relative to the outer rocker arm. One of the first and second axes is positioned for alignment over an engine valve. The other of the first and second axes is offset from the engine valve.
ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY
A rocker arm configured to perform a first event and a second event against a valve bridge assembly operably associated with first and second engine valves includes a rocker arm body configured to rotate about a rocker shaft. The rocker arm body includes a first event rocker arm assembly comprising a hydraulic capsule in a bore, and a second event rocker arm assembly. The first event rocker arm assembly is configured to selectively engage the valve bridge assembly to open the first and second engine valves.
COMPRESSION RELEASE TYPE ENGINE BRAKE
A compression release type engine brake includes a first opening unit and a second opening unit each including an exhaust rocker arm, an adjusting screw provided at an end portion of the exhaust rocker arm, a brake module in which brake oil is selectively and a brake piston mount portion is formed therein, a brake piston which is selectively protruded according to the oil supply inside the brake module, a reset member selectively exhausting the oil in the brake module, and a valve bridge connected to the brake piston and provided with an exhaust valve, and wherein a rocker arm protrusion is formed in the exhaust rocker arm of at least one of the first opening unit and the second opening unit, and the shaft spring presses the rocker arm protrusion and adjusts a distance between the first opening unit and the second opening unit.
