A cooperation system between a wheelchair and exercisers, allows both a control of the wheelchair's positioning and a locking thereof in a position for the gym exercise, the whole easily controllable by the user, without external aid, and on this regard it comprises: at least a magnetic hooking plate, fastened with respect to the exerciser with a predetermined spatial correlation; extensible magnetic means aboard a wheelchair, extending therefrom to said at least a hooking plate, by determining a mutual positioning between wheelchair and exerciser, suitable to perform exercises; and means for driving said extensible magnetic means aboard a wheelchair, which can be actuated by the wheelchair's user in seated position from an unlocking position to a locking position and vice versa.

INTERACTIVE CYCLING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING MUSCLE SIGNALS TO CONTROL CYCLING PATTERN STIMULATION INTENSITY

Systems and methods for a muscle signal-driven cycling system for persons with disability for rehabilitation are provided. A system comprises integrating both motor power and muscle power to facilitate rehabilitation cycling-based exercises. By using the intensity of real-time muscle activity signals as inputs, a motor applies either assistive or resistive force to rotate a gear at different speeds to facilitate or impede the cycling motion, and the electrical pulses from an electrical stimulation device can be provided to stimulate target muscles to generate muscle contraction to support the continuous cycling movement.

This invention is directed to an exercising apparatus for individuals with spinal injuries including; a frame having a vertically adjustable vertical standard; a forked base having a space defined in the forked base for receiving a wheelchair; a resistance assembly pivotally attached to the vertical standard having a vertical position, and a horizontal position so that an individual can use the exercise apparatus while sitting in a wheelchair in the vertical position and while inclined on a horizontal surface in the horizontal position; and, a resistance member included in the resistance assembly to increase the amount of force needed to rotate the resistance assembly. The invention can include a first pedal assembly for being rotated by hand and a second pedal assembly linked to the first pedal assembly so that when the first pedal assembly is rotated, the second pedal assembly rotates. The forked base can be disposed under the horizontal surface in the horizontal position. The resistance assembly can include foot pedals having a strap for securing the individual feet to the pedals.

Convertible mobile exerciser

The specification relates to a mobile exerciser. The mobile exerciser can include a mobile exerciser frame; a foot rest assembly attached to the mobile exerciser frame having a working position and a stored position; and a pedal assembly attached to the mobile exerciser frame having a working position and a stored position. The mobile exerciser can be converted from a push mode to a pedal mode by moving the foot rest assembly into a stored position and the pedal assembly into a working position and the mobile exerciser can be converted from a pedal mode to a push mode by moving the foot rest assembly into a working position and the pedal assembly into a stored position.

DIFFERENTIAL AIR PRESSURE SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USING AND CALIBRATING SUCH SYSTEMS FOR MOBILITY IMPAIRED USERS

Described herein are various embodiments of differential air pressure systems and methods of using and calibration such systems for individuals with impaired mobility. The differential air pressure systems may include an access assist device configured to help a mobility impaired user to stand in a pressure chamber configured to apply a positive pressure on a portion of the user's body in the sealed pressure chamber. The system may also include load sensors configured to measure the user's weight exerted inside and outside the chamber. The system may be calibrated by determining a relationship between the actual weight of the user and the pressure in the chamber, where the actual weight of the user may be measured by more than one load sensor and at least one load sensor is not in the pressure chamber.

An upper body exercise apparatus for allowing a user to perform an upper body exercise includes a frame body, a physical exercise device mounted on the frame body, and a movable seat. The physical exercise device has at least one moving member for allowing the user to perform the upper body exercise. The movable seat has a seat post and a seat portion. The seat post has one end pivotally mounted on a base portion of the frame body about a pivot axis. The seat portion is mounted on the other end of the seat post. The movable seat is pivotable about the pivot axis between a use position where the user is able to perform the upper body exercise in a sitting position and an idle position where the user is able to perform the upper body exercise in a standing position.

Exercise devices and methods with retractable cords

An exercise apparatus includes a first cord, a second cord, and an adjustment mechanism. The first cord is pullable from and retractable around a first pulley. The second cord is pullable from and retractable around a second pulley. The adjustment mechanism allows for adjusting a pull-out tension provided by the first cord independently of a retraction tension provided by the first cord. The pull-out tension provided by the first cord is a tension provided by the first cord when the first cord is pulled from the first pulley. The retraction tension provided by the first cord is a tension provided by the first cord when the first cord is retracted around the first pulley.
