Compression release engine in-cylinder braking system
A compression release engine in-cylinder braking system, comprising a valve mechanism, an oil cylinder device, an oil pump device, and an oil supply device. The oil cylinder device and the oil pump device of each air cylinder communicate with each other through a pressure transmission oil circuit, which communicates with the oil supply device through a low-pressure relief valve. An air release valve is arranged at the high end of an oil circuit system. During in-cylinder braking, the air release valve is closed, an electromagnetic reversing valve is energized, engine oil having a pressure of P1 is supplied to the pressure transmission oil circuit, and a cam abuts against and pushes the oil pump device to pump high-pressure oil to the oil cylinder device, so as to push a rocker arm to open a valve, thereby achieving in-cylinder braking.
Method in a two-stroke engine and two-stroke engine
The present invention concerns a method in a two-stroke engine comprising at least one cylinder (1) with a reciprocating piston (2), a delimited combustion space (5), at least one outlet port (7) and an inlet port (9) which are both uncovered at the bottom dead center position of the piston, an actuator (8) which activates a valve (17) to open and introduce combustion air via an inlet pipe (6), a control system (15) which controls the actuator to open the valve in order to introduce combustion air via the inlet port. The invention is characterized in that the inlet port is closed by the piston after the outlet port has been closed, thus the opposite compared to the two-stroke engines of today.

CYLINDER CHARGE TRAPPING STRATEGIES BASED ON PREDICTIVE NUMBER OF SKIPS AND STAGGERED IMPLEMENTATION OF VALVETRAIN DEPENDENT OPERATIONAL STRATEGIES FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
A system and method for controlling an internal combustion engine involving (1) cylinder trapping strategies where one of several pneumatic spring types are dynamically selected for cylinders based at least partially on a predicted number of upcoming skips for each of the cylinders respectively and/or (2) staggering various valvetrain dependent operational engine strategies as operating conditions permit as the internal combustion engine warms up following a cold start.

USE OF DIFFERENT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER SPRING TYPES IN A VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT ENGINE FOR ENGINE AND AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM TEMPERATURE CONTROL
A system and method for a variable displacement internal combustion engine using different types of pneumatic cylinder springs on skipped working cycles to control engine and aftertreatment system temperatures are described. The system and method may be used to rapidly heat up the aftertreatment system(s) and/or an engine block of the engine following a cold start by using one or more different types of pneumatic cylinder springs during skipped firing opportunities. By rapidly heating the aftertreatment system(s) and/or engine block, noxious emissions such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, NO.sub.x and/or particulates, following cold starts are significantly reduced.
