DEVELOPMENT OF A SWITCHING ROLLER FINGER FOLLOWER FOR CYLINDER DEACTIVATION IN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
A rocker arm includes an outer arm having a first side and a second side, an inner arm positioned between the first side and the second side of the outer arm, a pivot axle pivotally coupling the inner arm and the outer arm at a first end of each of the inner arm and the outer arm, and a latch having a first position and a second position. The latch in the first position pivotally fixes the inner arm and the outer arm at a second end of each of the inner arm and the outer arm, and in the second position allows the inner arm and the outer arm to pivot independently. The latch is responsive to hydraulic pressure in a hydraulic fluid passage to selectively move to other of the first position and the second position. A lost motion spring is coupled to the inner arm.

ROCKER ARM MECHANISM
A rocker arm mechanism capable of selectively adjusting a timing of opening or closing an intake or an exhaust valve of a plurality of exhaust valves by shifting according to a crankshaft angle and by gradually changing a maximum valve opening, or electively, allows for engine braking by decompression by opening the plurality of exhaust valves before a compression stroke in a plurality of internal combustion engines.
Control strategy, apparatus and nonvolatile computer storage medium
A control strategy includes: after an engine is energized, the continuously variable valve lift mechanism self learning to determine a current position; if the self learning is successful, the continuously variable valve lift mechanism being located at a maximum lift position, preparing for starting the engine, and determining a regulating mode based on a starting temperature, wherein at the time of normal temperature start, regulation is performed from the maximum lift position to a minimum lift position, and at the time of low temperature start, regulation is performed from the maximum lift position to a position where the two valves for the same cylinder have a maximum lift difference; if the self learning fails, entering a preliminary start mode; entering a CVVL control mode based on an operation condition of the engine; and powering off the engine.
VARIABLE VALVE APPARATUS
A variable valve apparatus includes: a swing body mounted to rotate to open and close a valve; an inner body driven by a cam and mounted in the swing body so as to switch a relatively-rotatable state and a latched state with respect to the swing body; a latching pin slidably mounted in the swing body so as to switch the latched state and the relatively-rotatable state of the inner body with respect to the swing body; and a control mechanism pressing the latching pin to make the inner body be latched to the swing body.
VALVE ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY, VARIABLE AIR DISTRIBUTION MECHANISM AND ENGINE
A valve rocker arm assembly, a variable air distribution mechanism, and an engine are provided according to the present disclosure. The valve rocker arm assembly includes: an oil inlet hose; a rocker arm shaft, an oil drain channel, an oil return groove, and a first oil path being provided in the rocker arm shaft, the oil drain channel being communicated with the oil return groove by means of the first oil path; a first rocker arm and a second rocker arm rotatably connected onto the rocker arm shaft, a piston cavity, an oil inlet path, an oil drain path and a piston being provided on the second rocker arm; a one-way opening device provided in the oil inlet path and/or the oil inlet hose; and a control valve connected to the oil drain channel
Switchable rocker arm
A switchable rocker arm is provided for a valve train of an internal combustion engine. The switchable rocker arm includes a first lever arranged to be rotated by a camshaft about a pivot, a second lever arranged to actuate an engine valve, and a locking part arranged to selectively lock the first lever to the second lever. The locking part is arranged to be mechanically actuated by the pivot.
Switchable rocker arm
A valve train assembly includes: at least one dual body rocker arm having a first body, a second body, a latching arrangement for latching and unlatching the first body and the second body, the latching arrangement having a latching pin that is biased to an unlatched configuration; and an actuator arrangement for controlling the latching arrangement, the actuator arrangement being able to contact the latching arrangement to cause the latching pin to be moved into a latched configuration in which it latches the first and second bodies together. In use, movement of the rocker arm under action of a cam to cause a valve event moves the actuator arrangement out of contact with the latching arrangement while a contact force between the latching pin and one or other of the first and second bodies maintains the latching pin in the latched configuration.
VALVE CONTROL
A valve control for an internal combustion engine may include a tilt lever, a cam shaft, two cam groups arranged on the cam shaft, a roller bolt arranged on the tilt lever, and an adjusting assembly including a switching pin that engages through the roller bolt. The roller bolt may include two rotatable rollers. The switching pin may be adjustable into a switching position and into a home position. The switching pin may cooperate with a slotted guide of the cam shaft when in the switching position and may have no contact with the slotted guide when in the home position. When the switching pin is in the switching position, the two rollers may be axially adjustable via the adjusting assembly. The switching pin may be axially movable in the roller bolt and the two rollers may be axially movable on the roller bolt into one of two roller positions.
LOWER TRAVEL DEACTIVATING LASH ADJUSTER WHEN COMBINED WITH TWO-STEP VARIABLE VALVE LIFT ROCKER ARM
A method of operating a rocker arm assembly in a cylinder deactivation mode according to one example of the present disclosure includes providing a two-step variable valve lift rocker arm assembly and a deactivating lash adjuster. Operation of the rocker arm assembly in cylinder deactivation mode is selected. The rocker arm assembly is operated in low-lift mode based on the selection of the cylinder deactivation mode. Subsequent to or concurrently with operating the rocker arm assembly in the low-lit mode, the deactivating lash adjuster is operated in the unlatched mode. A first amount of the total lost motion required for cylinder deactivation mode is accounted for by lost motion of the rocker arm assembly operating in the low-lift mode and a remainder amount of the total lost motion is accounted for by lost motion of the deactivating lash adjuster operating in the unlatched mode.
