COMPOSITE HYBRID CAM CARRIER
A cam carrier assembly includes a body made of a material lighter than aluminum. The body has a first side operably coupled with a cylinder head and a second side having bearing surfaces with bearing inserts. The bearing inserts support the camshaft. A series of apertures extend between the first and second sides of the body. Lobes of the camshaft operably couple with the valves of the cylinder head through the series of apertures extending between the first and second sides of the body.
LUBRICATION CONTROL IN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
A bearing supporting an end of a layshaft in an internal combustion engine is lubricated by injection of oil through a flange that mounts the layshaft on the engine. A pressure responsive flow control valve controls delivery of oil through the flange to the bearing. A backflow prevention adapter prevents back flow of oil to the engine's oil pump.
Cam carrier module for vehicles
A cam carrier module for vehicles may include a cam carrier coupled with a cylinder head, an injector penetrating through the cam carrier and the cylinder head, and a sealing device provided between the cam carrier and the cylinder head and enclosing the injector to implement sealing of the injector.
PISTON MACHINE
A piston machine with a rotating shaft (106),
wherein the piston machine comprises at least two circular bearings that are radially stacked and rotatable relative each other arranged about said rotating shaft (106).
CAMSHAFT THRUST BEARING LUBRICATION SYSTEM
Methods and systems are provided for regulating oil flow to advance and retard chambers of a variable cam timing (VCT) system and to a thrust bearing of a camshaft via an oil control valve. In one example, an oil control valve may be housed within a cam journal cap the cam journal cap comprising a thrust bearing for receiving and retaining a camshaft. The cam journal cap may include a vertical bore configured to house the control valve, where the vertical bore may include a first port for receiving oil from an oil pump, a second port for flowing oil to an advance chamber of a VCT system, a third port for flowing oil to a retard chamber of the VCT system, a fourth port, coupled to the thrust bearing for flowing oil thereto, and a drain port for flowing oil to an oil sump.
Composite cam carrier
A cam carrier assembly includes a cylinder head having valves and a camshaft having lobes. A cam carrier has a first side coupled with the cylinder head engaging around the valves and a second side with bearing surfaces supporting the camshaft. A series of apertures extend between the first and second sides for the lobes to interface with the valves. The cam carrier is made of carbon fiber composite insulating the camshaft from the cylinder head and providing substantial weight reduction to an upper section of an associated engine.
Cam bearing lubrication structure for internal combustion engine
A cam bearing lubrication structure for an internal combustion engine includes a cylinder head having a cam bearing region, a plug hole for an ignition plug and a plug tube fitted liquid-tight therein. The cam bearing lubrication structure includes an outer periphery oil path bypassing along an outer peripheral face of the plug tube, a main lubricating oil passage extending through the plug hole and formed to connect to the outer periphery oil path and a guide passage formed in and through the cam bearing region to connect a sliding face of the cam bearing region from the outer periphery oil path and supplying lubricating oil to a sliding face of the cam bearing region and a camshaft. In addition, a lubricating oil supplying structure is provided for a valve apparatus for further increasing the oil supply amount to achieve a further increase in the speed of the engine.
VARIABLE VALVE DEVICE
A variable valve device includes a pair of cam housings separated from each other in a predetermined direction, a pair of rocker shafts supported by the pair of cam housings, a plurality of rocker arms supported by the pair of rocker shafts in a swingable manner, a switching mechanism that couples and separates intake arms, and an upper housing on the pair of cam housings. The upper housing is formed with a first injection hole for supplying lubrication oil to the switching mechanism and a second injection hole for supplying lubrication oil to the rocker arms. A passage length from a lubrication groove around a camshaft to the second injection hole is larger than a passage length from the lubrication groove to the first injection hole.
