The present disclosure describes an oil pan structure including a storing portion that stores oil for an internal combustion engine. The storing portion includes a shallow bottom portion, a deep bottom portion deeper than the shallow bottom portion, and a connection surface that connects the shallow bottom portion and the deep bottom portion between the shallow bottom portion and the deep bottom portion. A side wall is formed at a position facing the connection surface with the shallow bottom portion interposed between the side wall and the connection surface. A rib is formed on a back surface of the shallow bottom portion so as to extend from one side or another side of the side wall in a width direction of the shallow bottom portion toward an end portion of the connection surface on an opposite side in the width direction.

This application discloses a cylinder block structure including: a cylinder block surrounding a cylinder array formed by a plurality of cylinders lined up in a first direction; a reinforcement plate including: a first fastening portion fastened to the cylinder block; and a second fastening portion fastened to the cylinder block at a position separated from the first fastening portion in a second direction that intersects with the first direction; and an oil pump that supplies oil to the cylinder block. The oil pump is fastened to the cylinder block together with the reinforcement plate. The reinforcement plate is interposed between the cylinder block and the oil pump, and has a length that is equal to or more than half of the cylinder array in the first direction.

The structure includes an oil pan connected to a main body portion of the internal combustion engine, and a plurality of baffle plates disposed in and fastened to the oil pan. In one embodiment, the oil pan includes a deep bottom portion for receiving oil and a shallow bottom portion. Among the plurality of baffle plates, the rigidity of a baffle plate disposed at the shallow bottom portion is higher than the rigidity of a baffle plate disposed at the deep bottom portion. In another embodiment, the oil pan includes a bottom portion for receiving oil, and a heavy-equipment joint portion disposed on a side portion of the oil pan. Among the plurality of baffle plates, the rigidity of a baffle plate disposed at the heavy-equipment joint portion is higher than the rigidity of another baffle plate.

Oil pan assembly

The oil pan assembly includes an oil pan and a slideable cover. The oil pan includes a base and a sidewall which surrounds the base wherein the base and the sidewall are configured to retain a pool of oil. The oil pan further includes a peripheral flange operatively configured to be coupled to an engine block. The slideable cover is affixed to the oil pan and is configured to maintain the pool of oil proximate to the base of the oil pan.
